Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and have a minimum ASVAB score of 36. Must be between the ages of 17 and 39, have normal color vision, and pass all basic height and weight requirements. No record of sleep disorders, no current history of ADD, ADHD or learning disorders. No history of excessive alcohol use, drug use or drug/alcohol related incidents. No fear of heights, confined spaces, or fear of working with nuclear weapons. In addition to the many qualifications, there is also training and education involved. All applicants will undergo training at the Air Force security forces academy at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. During the 65-day course, students will learn basic military police functions, including missile security, convoy actions, capture and recovery of nuclear weapons, law enforcement and directing traffic. Along with the basic training all candidates must complete Airmen’s Week which follows the week directly after basic military training is completed.
