After my leg is finally bandaged, of course, everyone had to go to bed. I think my mother would have killed me if she could have gotten away with it. The hate displayed as she looked at me lying in bed with my other three siblings. I told her, “I can’t cover up”. On her way to retire for the evening, standing still staring at me, as I spoke, pure evil pierced that moment. There was no sign she cared, and never articulated a word to me, just a death gaze before she moved on. My mother held a tight relationship with Pam and Cynthia, she talked with them more than me, treating them a great deal better. They sit up at night at the kitchen table or watching Television sharing tales and secrets with each other. This kinship between them and my mother

Today is Feb. 10th, 2028. It is exactly 12 years after I wrote my “The Future” essay during 9th grade. During that time I said I don’t have any dream and I don’t know I want to do for future. Many individuals told me that if I would not put thought into the topic of my senior project, I would never enjoy it. And they were correct, I have seen so many people do nothing but complain about the twenty hours they have to forge. Fortunately for me, I did not have to do that. I had no troubles getting the twenty hour requirement for this project, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Through my project log, I will describe how I decided my project, who I decided on as my mentor and why, how I completed my project, and what I learned from doing so.…

I can’t believe that my mom is seriously making us move. Ever since my dad passed she had been talking about moving to Connecticut. She said it would give us a fresh start and be able to get away from everything but I don’t want a fresh start I want to stay here in Raven Rock, California where I belong. One of the worst parts is my mom still needs our other car back in Connecticut, and I haven't drove since it happened. The only way she could get her car here was for me to drive which she knew I didn’t want to, or she could ship it to our house which costs too much money. Instead of making me drive she is making a 19 year old college student that I used to play with when I was younger that I don’t even remember and he is going to drive me across…

I was questioning myself when I read about the four job options from Joanne B. Ciulla’s Work and Life. I chose the “a well-paying position in an accounting firm” with a little surprised (Ciulla, 83). I know I want to earn more money, but I do not expect that I put money in the first place when I choose a job. However, it is true and I cannot ignore it. Money is quite important when we live in this world. As Epicurus said, “Wherefore both when young and old a man must study philosophy, that as he grows old he may be young in blessings through the grateful recollection of what has been, and that fin youth he may be old as well, since he will know no fear of what is to come” (Epicurus, 84). How a youth can no fear of what is to come? I can think…

Since I have started middle school, I have grown and learned in my reading, writing, and thinking skills. A strength of mine that I noticed in all three grade levels was my ability to comprehend the theme and main idea of texts with many details. Another strength that I displayed through all grade levels was analytical thinking. I used and continue to use analytical thinking when reading, solving problems, and envisioning new ideas. A common weakness that continue to exhibit throughout middle school is transferring my thoughts and ideas from my mind to my paper. I always have wonderful ideas, but have difficulty putting my ideas into words for others to understand. I have shown significant growth in the area of connecting information to other information that I have learned.…

    1. Define leadership: Webster defines leadership as “the power or ability to lead other people” that sounds easy, but for most, there’s a lot more than that. Leaders must inspire their people to complete the mission or task. As a Deployable Team Leader (DTL) at Taclet South as a BM1, a position usually attained by Chiefs or junior officer. I was charged to ensure that my eight member team was well trained, and ready to conduct an important counter narcotic mission. As the DTL, I was the face of the Law Enforcement detachment (LEDET) to our DOD counterparts and allied navies and by leading from the front and taking a more challenging position above my pay grade. I inspired my folks to follow me by being the example of what they wanted to be on such a small team of professional law enforcement expert.…

The Team Player It was 95 degrees, the hottest day of the year so far. In my left ear I hear kids laughing and parents talking about how nervous they are about the game. In my right ear I hear my team, there nervous too but not for the same reason as the parents. As I stare forward I see the straight lines of chalk going from home to first base and third. Without one speck of chalk out of place. “How do they get the lines that straight.” I wonder. I’m trying not to think of who’s going to be here any minute now. As i’m thinking though I hear the gate to the softball field open. She’s here.…

Ever since I was a child I have always been a quiet and reserved character. When I am silent and observant I find it easier to listen to other people's ideas. It allows me to watch and learn people's behavioral patterns and tendencies. I find that knowing your peers and understanding their perspectives makes working with them easier. My ability to work for compromise and to listen to people with an open mind has proven to be very advantageous in not only helping others, but in furthering my own goals.…

I’m not sure how or why it all started. It started to spiral all out of control. My eating disorder became a constant battle. Two years of keeping it all in and not telling a soul. Going to a therapist two times a week after school isn’t a middle schoolers ideal way to spend their free time. Every time I tried consuming food it came right up. Next thing I knew I woke up on a table with a scope down my throat. This brought me realization, that this is not who I am. Becoming more active was crucial to taking my mind off the negative thoughts.…

Finally the two SMART goals that I have created to help develop my leadership skills further will challenge me to be a better leader immediately. Self-confidence and the ability to delegate without feeling an immense amount of stress will very quickly impact my professional growth. Although these are two identified areas that I want to develop further, they are also two areas that I can begin to see changes in immediately. By simply reminding myself of my principles and staying positive I will exude more self-confidence and that is something that is seen by others immediately. When I take the time to empower others to do the delegated tasks instead of stress about the completion, the employee sees that I have faith and trust in their ability…

When I was younger I was in the Palomino Horse Breeders of America Association. I was on the National Youth Board for seven years, my last year I was the National Youth President. Throughout my years on the board I learned a lot about team work, especially during my year as President. The main thing that I learned about team work is that no one on the board knew what it was. I was not too surprised because everyone in the horse industry is so competitive and high strung that they don’t trust anyone else to do their work or to make good decisions. For example, I had two youth advisors who made my life, during my presidency, extremely difficult. As advisor they were only allowed to overlook our decisions to make sure we stayed on topic and were…

How I came to America? Have you ever been through an experience where you moved to an unfamiliar location by yourself? I had the opportunity to do just that when I left my hometown in Hong Kong and come to America for a better education. I was only thirteen years of age at the time.
