After Attending 10 Weeks Psychology Lecture
What is the correct behaviors of myself in the university ?
After attending 10 weeks Psychology lecture, I have understood more about it and found it more interesting. Psychology is no longer a professional term that occurs in book for me. There is a Psychology term which is diffusion of responsibility that really happens in my university life.
I am the sub-committee of the joint departmental singing contest and I am now doing many decorations to decorate the venue of the contest with other department’s 23 sub-committees now. The contest will be held in next week but we still have not finished half of the decorations. Although the deadline of the handing in the decorations is nearly end, there are still so few sub-committees will come to do the decorations with us. I think this scenario can be explained by diffusion of responsibility. According to Darley and Latané, diffusion of responsibility is “In crowds, when someone is in trouble, individuals often fail to take action or call for help because they assume that someone else will do so.” I think people who absent for works because of diffusion of responsibility is quiet unacceptable when we all university students and adult now, we should bear our own responsibility to finish tasks.
Social psychologist Stanley Milgram once said “We are all fragile creatures entwined in a cobweb of social constraints,” Our roles have changed from secondary students to university students in these months, I know that we need to bear more than the past. I felt lost and confuse in the past 3 months as I could not find my aims and targets in The Polytechnics University, I did not have a clear role for myself to behave. However, I have found my goals in my university life. I want to be one of the committee members of my department. I want to go for exchange for one semester. After figure out what I really want, I need to behave well in those related to my goals’ parts, for example, I need to fulfill my responsibilities in the event
