The policy to be analysis is The Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) that was implemented in 2010. The Affordable Care Act is a very comprehensive and now complexed health care system that is being changed. Over centuries there has been many reforms, discussions and controversies surrounding the debate over affordable health care for Americans and their families. And Obama Care is proposed to be what Americans can benefit from and afford. However, there is a downside to this insurance. The individual or family will get the medical help they need but, they still have to pay a co-payment monthly even if they are not sick. Leaving the American people confused and thinking that they do not have a choice in their health care coverage and being afraid if would be affordable. With that being said, most low-income families have to choose to eat, pay a bill or have health care insurance. And at times that can be a barrier and a risk especially if you or your children are sickly. Formal president Barrack Obama made it possible for American citizens to have access to better health care for millions of individuals and their families. The act was put into place for to help improve health care and made to be affordable for low-income families that need health insurance but, they have to meet certain requirements to eligible. By making health care accessible for the less fortunate it lifts the financial burden of overpriced medical bills. There were many enhancements developed in The Affordable Care Act to provide a health insurance program for children mostly those that had pre-existing conditions. However, there were challenges that prevented families from signing up. Such as, there was a deadline for enrolling in Obama Care and there large numbers of individuals signing up with private insurance companies for health plans as well. But the Department of Health and Human Services system did not have an application process to handle the overload causing the system to shut down. More so, millions of American citizens were unable to sign up for Obama Care do to this glitch in the system.
