Advantages & Disadvantages of Part-Time Jobs

As the matter of fact, attending in colleges or university, students should consider learning new knowledge for their future careers from teachers the most important goal. In my perspective, participating in working environment when they are students is very beneficial. However, before deciding to take a part-time job, they should take other disadvantages—lacking time to study, for example--into consideration.

First of all, engaging in part-time jobs enables students to learn new things that they cannot learn from their books and schools. For example, a student can learn how to do their school-works or assignments when studying in their classes, but they cannot learn how to manage their time effectively, how to arrange their many works appropriately, how to manage and appreciate their money, or how to communicate well with others. These lessons are proved to be very important for them at the present when they still study in their colleges, as well as in the future when they pursue their desire callings.

Secondly, having a chance to apply their theoretical knowledge that they have accumulated from books and lectures is another benefit of having after-school jobs. In fact, students in many majors, such as computing, engineering or business, really want to practice and scrutinize as many lessons that they have learned from their classes as possible. For instance, an IT engineer can understand the process of accomplishing soft-wares that is very hard to understand in depth if they just read it in a book.

Admittedly, there are still many disadvantages that should be taken into account seriously. Actually, having a part-time job will decrease the time they could spend on studying at their homes. They also would be exhausted after working and studying all day and night. These would result in decreasing in their performances at their classes, and harming their grades.
