Advantages and Disadvantages of the Internet
The Internet is undoubtedly the most crucial technology of the modern world. This useful application has not only made our lives easier than ever before but it also plays a very important role in the future developments. Similar to each and every technology, the Internet carries a number of advantages and disadvantages. In this essay, I will discuss some of the ideas in favor and against the internet.
It is obvious that the internet has brought considerable global benefits for us. Information is probably the biggest advantage that the Internet offers. It has provided us a valuable source of information about every subject known to man. Nowadays we can easily find any type of information by the help of search engines like Google. Moreover, the internet has made a major change in the way of communicating. The foremost target of the Internet has always been speedy communication and it has excelled way beyond the expectations. Now, we can communicate in a fraction of second with a person who is sitting in the other part of the world through chat services or video conferencing.
On the other hand, the internet has negative aspects too. The main drawback of the internet is in pornography. Pornography is widespread over the internet making it inappropriate to be used by the children below certain age. The security threats are also inevitable while using the internet. There is high probability that your personal details like name, address and credit card number may be accessed by con artists and used for fraudulent purposes.
In conclusion, the Internet has the potential to make your life simple and convenient, as well as wreak havoc in your life. Its influence is mostly dictated by the choices you make while you are online. With clever use, you can manage to harness its unlimited potential.
