Video is an electronic medium for the recording, copying and broadcasting of moving visual images. Radio is the wireless transmission of signals through free space by electromagnetic radiation of a frequency significantly below that of visible light, in the radio frequency range, from about 30 kHz to 300 GHz.[1] Utility organizations like ZESA are under constant pressure to improve their business operations and worker safety, as well as reduce their costs while maintaining reliable services for their customers. At the same time, customers and regulators are putting pressure on to keep electricity prices low. Radio and Video technologies have increased the efficiency of communications to help utilities to increase the reliability of their Grid, improve the safety of their workforce as well as the general public, and manage their costs wisely. . Technology reduces on human errors which can be caused by too much work or stress. Radio and video technologies have facilitated in the quick movement of information at the workplace which accelerates quick decision making at the workplace thereby increasing efficiency at the workplace ZESA is Zimbabwe’s primary and sole electricity supplier. It is responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity from its 5 power stations, with a combined nominal capacity of 1800megawatts and close to over 15000km of transmission lines. Maintenance and repair of ZESA’s huge electricity transmission network requires an efficient and effective communications system capable of covering the vast areas supplied with electrical power, allowing for rapid deployment of repair crews when required. An inter-network of different subsidiary companies exist in ZESA which require efficient communication with one another in order to provide unparallel electricity supply service and at the same time reducing to a minimum the risk of loss of life or injury or damage to plant and equipment worth millions of dollars from...
