Advanced Placement US History
I would like to take Advanced Placement US History. History is a big part of my life, as I have many of it in my blood. On my mother’s side, I am slavish and one of my great grandparents lived in a castle and ruled a part of scotland. On my Father’s side, I am irish and my great grandfather was the minister John Cotton that came over on the Mayflower to America. There is also so much more history that I don’t even know about. This is why I like history. I like learning about the past and how things and people came to be. I especially love that in US History we learn about things that happened in our own country and learn about how everything today came to be, and why things are the way they are. I believe that I was not recommended for this

    1. During the 1920’s, the south was filled with hatred and racism towards black people. Southern states were segregated and had many Jim Crow laws in place that led to inferior treatment of black people. Lynching took place on a frequent basis. Blacks wanted a chance at peace and prosperity and thought they could find it in the North where factories where looking for employment. After the civil war, many freed blacks remained on plantations as sharecroppers. With no money they were unable to leave the Jim Crow South. After WW1, industry, especially the auto-industry of Detroit, in the North started to boom during the 1920’s. This attracted all the freedmen to migrate in search of jobs. This was a time they finally had an opportunity to make a new life for themselves. Henry Ford’s new plant was said to be large enough to employ all of Nashville. Factories were sprouting all over requiring workers who were willing to work for cheap wages.
