CC: New Scholarships Strategies

It has come to my attention that income, not race, is the real determining factor in higher education today. Millions of otherwise-qualified high school students aren’t attending college, either because they can’t afford it or either they can’t achieve a hundred percent scholarship. Granting scholarships system must change.
So which is this system ?
Scholarships obtained by honours students are valid only for the first year and for the rest are not , which impose the student to pay money for the next years in university. Even though students try to afford it but the opportunities are scarce , they can’t find a job because of their time . So my purpose is that university has to collate this students by finding them some jobs in the university during their free time and this job maybe can justify their fee that is required from them .
In my opinion this might be the right method to develop even the university staff and even to help the student who can’t afford the tuition payment. In this case this method will help the university to improve their standards and normally this method will affect positively the credibility of the university. In our community there exist a lot of students who can be good assistants to professors for a lot of things that can be so the “Work as assistant” in our university can be very challenging because students can be even critical thinkers and eager to ask questions and listen to others, they can be creative and willing to use and to develop further skills at collaboration.
IT job recently with the development of technology has facilitated more and students of Unyt are able to help teachers when their computer has a troubleshoot so the job as IT provider is to interesting for scholarships students of Unyt.

In the end i have to conclude that this kind of method will be very useful even for

The number of African American students who attend college is steadily rising each academic school year, and has more than doubled in the past thirty years. Historically Black Colleges and Universities are improving their facilities, staff, and recruitment techniques to reinforce their ability to offer a quality education to prospective students. But even with said improvement, several state legislatures are cutting their higher education budgets. This is prompting institutions in some states to merge, such as Savannah State University and Atlantic State University in Georgia. Also as a result of the recession, minority students are finding themselves in more of a bind to pay tuition costs, as it is getting harder to take out both subsidized and unsubsidized loans. In future political administrations we could possibly see the cutting of federally funded programs such as PELL and MTAG which could potentially leave many students without any means of paying for college.…

Every individual in the United States deserves equal access to education but unfortunately this is not the case. “Despite major progress in some areas, many students, especially students of color, continue to lack the opportunity of a quality education” (U.S Department of Education, 2014). Many years ago the Brown v. Board of Education revealed the racial gap that existed in the early 1960’s and with Brown’s victory we can now have equal opportunity on a racial level. That was a big achievement for the education system as children of any color, culture, or ethnic group received the same quality of education as white children in America. In many poor communities educational opportunities are not as equal as in other sectors where well off Americans live. In this paper I will discuss whether every individual has the right to equal education, who is responsible for the provision of education, and I will suggest an improvement that I believe can help our educational system.…

Studies have found that the level of the success of African American male students in advanced educational program is lower rates than nonblack peers (Few, 2004).Success in early exposure to advance classes has shown that it ultimately impacts students’ pre college experiences, such as career choice, level of success, and the nature of participation extracurricular activities (Williams, 2011). Very few black males take advanced classes, which are more in line with college entrance requirements (Few, 2004). Instead, they stick to classes that meet basic high school graduation requirements (Few, 2004). Poverty is another barrier that blocks African American male from participation in the AP program. Most schools require a fee for taking an exam in each subject area (Williams, 2011). AP courses are not as accessible for minorities as for White students because many low-income schools (often primarily populated by minority students) do not offer any AP classes (Watts Silvernail, 2010). With most African American families living well below the nation poverty rate paying addition school fees is unrealistic (Cross, 2006). Further, the…

"Since scholarships would have been more equitably distributed between the races in a system without a history of institutionalized discrimination--and to doubt this is to assume that folks of color still wouldn't have qualified for them, which means that one would have to believe in inherent inferiority on their part, which belief is the textbook definition of racism--to now steer scholarships to such persons is only to create a situation closer to that which would have existed anyway, but for a legacy of racial oppression" (Wise 3). In today’s world, not many people would ever admit to believing in the textbook definition of racism. Unfortunately, the belief that people of color are inferior to white people is still more of a prevalent belief in our society than most would want to admit. In most western civilizations, I believe that white people still see themselves as the norm, while minorities are seen to fall outside the norm. This, to me, is one of the most insidious aspects of modern racism. If no one is willing to acknowledge that it exists, how can it be overcome?…

Currently, there are very few programs and policies that help the poor with postsecondary education; American capitalism is the underlying cause of the lack of support. Mike Rose spent a year and a half going to community colleges to see those hardships in effect. He believes the disadvantaged should have the same equal opportunities in secondary education. However, such opportunities are being slashed due to government budget cuts. If these budget cuts are permanent, the poor will suffer from economic consequences.…

In her essay The Growing College Gap Draut makes the claim that attending college is a decision students are faced with nationwide. She argues that there’s a gap between class and race dealing with financial problems. The gap has increased due to many cuts in the educational system and how Financial Aid helps the less fortunate but it doesn’t make higher education any more affordable to the masses. Therefore, since the socioeconomic breach continues to grow, security for a middle-class student, which is earning a four-year degree, is now decreasing because of the expense to actually achieve the said degree.…

For instance, my high school had access to numerous extracurricular activities, college preparatory help, and support systems for its mostly white population of students from dual enrollment to support for young caregivers. A sociological perspective would comprehend with their description that, “educational attainment appears to be related to race rather than being a random phenomenon….Overall dropout rates declined between 1972 and 2005, from 15 percent to 9 percent, but dropout rates are still much higher for many minority youth” (Fitzgerald, 2014, p. 217-218). These statistics account for individuals’ capability to pursue higher education which encompasses structural circumstances, such as how race and class privilege are key roles in their high school opportunities. In essence, the disparities of schooling paint hard truths of restrictions even before they obtain a postsecondary degree following educational inequalities along racial lines or achievement…

During the 1960s, as the nation responded to the Civil Rights Movement, access to higher education increased for African-Americans students when they were allowed to attend predominantly white colleges or institutions (PWIs) (Allen, 1992). Even though African-American students can now attend colleges of their choice, there are still issues that prevent African-American students from completing their degrees, persisting from year to year, and making progress in school. In 1988, 60 percent…

The Bank and colleges try furiously to lighten the load on student through Bank loans and Pell grants and these programs indeed make college more accessible to minorities but on the other hand they can offer detrimental results because there is always a constant pressure for you to pay back the loan and that can affect one’s academic performance. The last three years student debt has surpassed credit card and auto loans debt with an estimated 35 trillion dollars. College is like a politician, it shows off some good rhetoric promise but in the end shows no good results. Student’s labor for years…

We do not want to discourage the overall positive trajectory our diverse groups of students are taking with one policy when there are more pressing issues arising. A better focus of cost management of college could impact communities more positively than community service because we could bring a new collective level of education to those less fortunate. As the famous African American Slave turned inventor and botanist George Washington Carver wrote: “Education is the key to unlocking the golden door of…

Many students graduate from college with enormous student loan debt or limit their education in an attempt to control costs. Because scholarships are free money, students can focus on their careers instead of thinking about how they will repay loans. This allows me to go into job fields that require postgraduate training or to pursue careers in public service or other areas that don’t pay high salaries. By removing financial barriers, scholarships make education and career goals easier to obtain.…
