Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician and leader of the National Socialist German Workers, better known as the Nazi party. He came to power in 1933 and was the chancellor and dictator of Germany, and a strong nationalist. He attempted a coup in Munich which failed and resulted in Hitler’s imprisonment. While in prison he wrote a memoir entitled Mein Kampf, which means My Struggle. Hitler wanted to eliminate all Jews from Germany which is also known as Anti-Semitism which is prejudice, hatred of, or discrimination against Jewish people. He believed in Aryan Race. Aryan race are dominant people who have blonde hair and blue eyes. He used the use of terror to achieve what he wished. Hitler gained support by attacking the Treaty of Versailles that was forced upon Germany. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty at the end of World War I between Germany and the allied powers. The Treaty required Germany to accept the responsibility for the loss and damage during the war. Germany was forced to pay reparations, which were payments for war damages. World War I, was a global war that was centered in Europe. It resulted in an Allied victory but it was one of the most deadly conflicts in history. The Weimar Republic was established in 1919 in Germany to replace the imperial form of government. It lead into the succeeding Nazi era. Women had the right to vote but provided little healing towards Germany. After the war Germany dealt with a great deal of inflation. Germany suspended the convertibility of its currency into gold when the war had broken out. The Great depression followed after the end of the war and was worldwide. It had devastating effects in countries rich and poor.
