Advertisement Analysis Name of Product – Bose Noise Reduction Headphones What is the product? – Headphones Advertisement Appeal – Adults and teenagers (male and female) Intended Audience – Adults and teenagers (male and female) How do you know? – Mainly adults and teenagers would be interested in such a high quality pair of headphones. This ad wouldn’t really appeal to children as the idea of the man paddling into the large waterfall would seem scary to many young kids. Also, kids wouldn’t really need a pair of these headphones and we don’t see little kids wearing these headphones often. However, adults and many teens use headphones to listen to music all the time. When shopping for a new pair, this ad would certainly jump out to …show more content…
Humor – This ad is humorous because the man rowing the boat is about to fall to his death down a waterfall and doesn’t even realize it. The fact that he is so oblivious and the exaggeration of the power of the headphones is what makes this ad funny. Verbal Irony – This particular ad has no verbal irony because there is no dialogue or description to the advertisement except the name of the headphones. The name of the product is not meant to be ironic, but the picture has enough irony itself to not need any verbal irony to go along with it. Situational Irony – This situation is particularly ironic because common sense would tell you that the man would hear the huge, roaring waterfall just behind him. However, it is ironic that with the headphones on, the man has no idea there is a huge waterfall behind him that he’s about to row into. Dramatic Irony – In this picture, the audience knows that the man is just in front of the waterfall and about to fall, yet the man has no idea because of the headphones he is wearing. The man obviously is not aware of the waterfall, because otherwise he would not be rowing into it. Yet it is clear to the audience that the waterfall is right there and that he will soon fall into

In An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, Peyton Fahrquar is sentenced to death by hanging by the federal military during the civil war for attempting to burn a bridge they were controlling.
