Promo
Does the promo meet the requirements of the CAB? Yes my promo meets the requirements of the CAB as it gives a detailed artist line-up of my festival, lasts between 45 and 60 seconds, it’s suitable for my target audience and includes sound effects and a soundtrack.
What sound effects or soundtrack did you add?
How did this enhance the promo?
I added a few sound effects to my promo to enhance it further. One effect I added was a firework explosion. I added this to the start of my promo and it made it more that little bit more thrilling. Secondly, I added an audience clapping sound effect. This made my promo more atmospheric, like the listeners are already at the festival. I thought this was a very effective sound effect, I added it twice.
I included a soundtrack from a band attending my festival, the ‘Arctic Monkeys’. This will enhance my promo because the listeners will remember the song, and it will link it to my promo. This will mean more people will remember details about my festival such as the artist list.
What feedback did you receive from your teacher and test buddy?
My teacher told me I should fade out my promo towards the end. Consequently, he also said I should change the volume of my soundtrack as it was overpowering.
What action did you take as a result of the feedback?
In response to this feedback, I faded out the end of my promo and also made sure the soundtrack ended quite gracefully. Furthermore, I experimented with the volume of my sound effects, voice-over and soundtrack. After a while I found the perfect volume for each section of my promo, with the soundtrack quieter than the voiceover and the sound effects slightly louder than my voice-over.

When deciding on a music concert for this course, World Music 327, there were five different choices for me to choose from. It was required to attend a concert musical performance of world or ethnic music. The music selected for the purpose of the concert had to be from music I would not normally focus on or attend a performance in that particular style of music. It was definitely outside of the box or my comfort zone, which I am glad I attended. For me, I decided based on location due to the fact that I wanted to take my entire family for a nice day out, and enjoy some ethnic music that we have never experienced. With this in mind, and not knowing what I had in store for me, I decided to attend the concert on July 29, 2012 at La Jolla Cove to watch and observe Theo & the Zydeco Patrol. This concert was scheduled to play from 2 to 4 pm, but went till approximately 4:15pm, with an intermission at the middle of the concert at 3, that lasted 15 minutes. The concert was part of the 29th Annual Summer Concert Series 2012, and was named “La Jolla Concerts by the Sea”. All concerts for these particular series are free of charge to the public and are family oriented, due to the fact the location of the concert was right next to the beach and provided entertainment for the family. For this particular band this week’s concert was sponsored by Cymer, Incorporated.…

Since its beginning, the Coachella music festival has seen a rise in popularity and price, attracting not only a wider audience but also exhibiting a greater tendency toward “mainstream” music. Though the culture of the festival itself has changed, the poster that advertises it has remained surprisingly the same. The poster depicts the bare Indio Valley with a mountain in the background, palm trees across the horizon, and a dramatic sky taking over much of the space. In the forefront, the three-day line-up is displayed. The poster never contains advertisements, the font is always the same, and the structure of the line-up never changes. With this layout Coachella places the music at the center of the festival, but upon deconstructing this poster and removing that center, it is clear that it is also creating a carefully constructed image of an idyllic, tranquil, and understated event that is committed to maintaining its originality. However, this is in fact a crafted image and Coachella is far more affected by the presence of its audience.…

If UCD is the method that guides an effective development process, usability may be perceived as the end result. Usability was once known simply as "user-friendliness" (Norman & Draper, 1986), nowadays usability has become the quality software measurement for interactive software. The usability testing perhaps is one of the most valuable tools for designers. This method allows the designers to observe the actions of the target user population first-hand.
