Acid- Base Titration

Jorge Moreno Chem 118LS4-133S Mr. Qin

Purpose In the lab they want determine the concentration of a solution. One way that they have to do so is to carrying out analytical procedure known as titration.

Introduction Every material and step in the lab is very important. Everything has a purpose in the lab. In this lab they used a lot material. They used 2 50mL burets, buret stand and clamps,

Then they wrote the initial and the final volumes from the buret into your data table. 8. Next they added 10mL of distilled water to the flask. 9. Then they added 3 drops of phenolphthalein to the flask, and swirl the flask to mix thoroughly. 10. Then they started to move the flask, next observed the substance until the substance until the substance changes his color. 11. They began the titration by added NaOH to the flask. For the initial trial they may want to add the base fairly quickly until they notice a pink colour appearing in the flask. Swirling the flask should make the pink colour disappear. At that point they began added the NaOH more slowly, swirling the flask after each drop is added. 12. Then they repeat the titration a couple of time more.

When a metal is extracted from its ore often sulphur dioxide is produced. When sulphur dioxide is dissolved in water it forms a strong acid called sulphuric acid. Sulphuric acid is often sold as a useful by-product, but also gets into the water cycle and forms acid rain. In this experiment, I have been given a sample acid rain of concentration between 0.05 mol dm-3 and 0.15 mol dm-3 and my aim is to find out exactly what its concentration is.…

Titrations are used to find the molarity of an unknown solution. A titration begins with an analyte and titrant being used to measure the unknown molarity of the analyte. In the following experiment, sodium hydroxide was used as the titrant and potassium hydroxide phthalate was used as the analyte. The molarity of the sodium hydroxide was found to be 0.1122 ±0.0044 M.…

A titration is a controlled addition of one substance into another substance. In an acid-base titration, the experimenter will add a base of known concentration to an acid of unknown concentration (or vice-versa). The goal of the titration is usually to use the substance of known concentration to determine the concentration of the other substance. In order to run a titration, the following materials are needed:…

An acid-base titration is the determination of the concentration of an acid or base by exactly neutralizing the acid/base with an acid or base of known concentration. This allows for quantitative analysis of the concentration of an unknown acid or base solution. It makes use of the neutralization reaction that occurs between acids and bases and the knowledge of how acids and bases will react if their formulas are known.…
