27. In order for the Committee on Admission and Aid to get to know you better, answer the question below in the form of an essay.
“Are there any significant experiences you have had, or accomplishments you have realized that have helped to define you as a person?”

“I love you, Lord, my strength.”

In the course of my life, I have encountered several trials and several attainments, but despite all of those experiences; one unforgettable moment struck me the most.
The car accident happened in a Sunday evening back in February of 2011. There was a strong hit at the right side of the back of our car which led the car to swerve to the left, and collide on a passing jeepney. The sad thing about the incident was that the point of impact on my side was strong. I fell unconscious after my head hit the door and I didn’t know what happened next. I only felt that I was regaining consciousness when I was already in a tricycle with my dad. My vision wasn’t clear and I can feel something painful on my face; I was troubled and nervous about what was going on and what has happened. I’ve come to understand it after I woke up in a hospital lying on a bed. I was very confused why I was laid on a bed, why my mom and relatives were around me. It turned out that I was the one they were fretting over. My mom told me about the accident while she was sobbing. My mind went blank; all I can think about was, “How? Why? Is this real?”
I was transferred and referred to another hospital, then another until I had my operation. The doctors read all laboratory findings and tests and they told me that I was lucky enough that my left eye didn’t end up blind. I was seriously hurt physically and mentally. Knowing the bills for the operation, medicines, hospital was very grieving. My parents had to pay thousands of pesos just because of what happened to me. They had to drive to and from one hospital to another just for check-ups. My conscience ate me, “Ikaw kasi eh! Kung hindi ka nadisgrasya,

It had been a few days since the occurrence of the incident on June 10th. In these few days after the event, I feel both physically tormented and emotionally distressed. It might have been the shock of the event that I unconsciously undermined the physical impact that the fall, tumble and rolling has on my body. The following morning after the incident, purple bruises surfaced in the left knee area, muscle pain and soreness on my left arm and both legs that weren't visible nor noticeable that night. In addition, I feel that I am emotionally traumatized by that night's incident. I can sense that I am on the brink of a mental breakdown. The things that I thought I could have neglect and the negative feelings that I…

I dropped my bike in my front yard and raced into the house. Calling for my mom and dad I suddenly realized that it was a weekday and they would be at work. Being that I was an only child, I was home alone. Quickly, I looked at the clock on the stove in the kitchen, it was 11:02 a.m.. They wouldn't be home for at least six more hours. I started panicking and thinking of all of the possibilities of what could’ve happened to me. Then I remembered my strange dream that I had when I fell off of my bike. Maybe what I thought was a dream was actually a reality. I needed some time to think and calm down so I went upstairs and into my bedroom. I jumped into my bed and tried to get some rest because I hadn’t slept that night due to my bike accident. My eyes were slowly closing more and more and I finally fell…

When I was in the fourth grade, my mother and I was involved in a head-on collision. We were just leaving the car lot in our new Mercedes Benz when it happened. I remember an older woman talking to me after the wreck. She gave me a Popsicle and told me not to worry because everything was going to be okay. However, I do not remember the other car swerving into our lane and hitting us, nor do I remember getting out of the car. My mom sometimes talks to me about the accident and she told me that after we were hit she asked me if I was okay. I responded with, “I hurt my big toe.” (I actually had no injuries). Which I also have no memory of. I have removed the memory of the wreck from my conscious using repression.…

I decided to cut through the freshly dewed pine straw, which was slick from a heavy rainstorm the previous night. My feet started to slip from underneath me and my weight forcefully dragged towards the ground. Before I can stop my fall, my head smashed against hard cold cement. No thoughts went through my head. Neither pain nor suffering. Only Darkness. I woke up but only saw out of one eye. Warm thick blood ran down my face completely covering up my left eye. I was on the ground feeling nauseous and scared. I tried to stand, but I could not pry myself up, due to my broken clavicle. I decide to slowly crawl into the parking lot, in hopes that a bystander would see me. A man sprinted towards me and I stared dead into his eyes, and that is when I realize that the cut was worse then I had thought. Tears furiously run down my face and I let out screams of agony. The man propped me up against a black Ford F-150, and tried to reassure me that everything will be all right. I had a hard time believing him when his hands were shaking and he is yelling for help like somebody had just gotten shot. The man quickly took off my jacket and tried to stop the bleeding by applying pressure to the wound as a few parents rush to help. It must have been my lucky day since 4 doctors were at NYO and they were now by my side…

April 21, 2009 was the day of my high school senior prom everything leading up to that day went so smoothly I couldn’t have expected anything bad happening to me or anyone else. As the day went on, getting ready for the big night everything still seemed pretty normal. My mother bought me a brand new Nissan Maxima; my grandmother put extra money in my pocket, everything was going so well. As the night went on; having fun and dancing with my friends it seemed like nothing could go wrong, I even won a Mac book from the contest drawings. My high school prom was nearly over it was 7am and I had to drive on the opposite side of town just to drop my date off, as I head back to my side of town on the interstate I start to feel a little drowsy, I try everything and anything in my power to stay awake whether it was rolling the window down or blasting my music or even talking to myself. All of that effort ended up with me falling asleep on the interstate going a hundred miles per hour into pickup truck. Once I collided with the truck I instantly woke up with the airbag in my face and smoke coming through the window with the hood bent back. As I pulled off the road I was placed in an ambulance while getting questioned by the police after that I was hauled off to the nearest emergency room where I walked out with only a bruised sternum; two chest contusions; and a bruised wrist, the doctor told me “that I was lucky to be alive and he must really have a plan for…
