Leadership is an art, not a science. Therefore, we as senior leaders must professionally develop our junior soldiers through experience, counseling and mentoring. We must mentor our soldiers to be ethical standard bearers and to live up to and enforce Army valves. 1. The following statements represent my Leadership Philosophy that we must ensure as Non-Commissioned Officers and leaders of soldiers that we are working as one team to produce the best trained soldiers in the Army. a. Proficient caring leaders: I expect proficient Leaders to demonstrate caring attitudes toward the soldiers in their charge. We must lead from the front and set the example at all times. Caring for soldiers is the foundation of the Army. The most precious asset we have is each other and above all our soldiers in the organization must truly know we care for them and their families. b. Teamwork: As leaders we must work as a team in every aspect of training. Soldiers need to cooperate with each other and become one. A well-disciplined caring team will build cohesiveness, which is a bond that no force can break. Soldiers will not play the Officer against the NCO if they truly understand you are one. I will personally be involved in individual training and will insist we are trained. c. Communication: Along with teamwork, communication is what soldiers normally see as a command failure. Soldiers must be able to use the chain of command and chain of support, both formal and informal. I expect every soldier to utilize communication to its fullest extent. As soon as a leader gives directives to soldiers, I expect the details to be worked out and soldiers to receive the information rapidly. d. Leadership: This is in no way a zero defects business. I expect soldiers to make honest mistakes and learn from the experience… you can expect me to make honest mistakes as well… we will learn together. Leaders are positive, proactive, and look for problems and…

The instructors make them question why they are there by pushing them to their limits. The cadets learn there is no time to have mistakes. The one thing on their mind is to graduate and become a Navy Seal. They know that it "pays to be a winner". By the end of the week one almost half of the class is gone because they couldn't take the training or got injured. This makes the cadets still in training feel great about themselves, knowing that they made it longer than others.…

Starguiders are girls unanimously chosen by counselors to be emerging leaders. As a starguider I would focus on girls who were having a difficult time at camp or who were homesick and find a way to help them. We also did a service project for the camp each year in order to keep the camp looking its best. One year we made a bunk notes box to be placed by the office. Bunk notes were letters that parents could write to their kids, and then the kids would write one in return and give it to the office to have it emailed to the parents. Giving the letters directly to the office had began to be disorganized. We measured the size of the papers to make the box and then we painted it with the colors of the camp. We painted a star in the middle, a symbol that the starguiders had made it.…

I was a camp counselor at Camp Wabikon ‒ a co-ed overnight summer camp located in Temagami, Ontario for children who are 6-15 years of age. Along with teaching Red Cross swimming and lifesaving and Tennis, I was my cabin's 'parent' for six weeks. Therefore, I was present with the children at all times. In essence, I was the leader of my cabin's the physical, social and mental development. The main things I learned were the importance of time management and organization , as I had to plan lessons for swimming and Tennis while taking care of my cabin; conflict resolution between campers; and the ability to plan and foresee events (I had to plan camp-wide events and activities for all campers).…

Since an early age, the Boy Scouts of America has instilled the values of honesty, respect, and how to get along with others. As I assimilated the Scout Law and Oath into my core principles I saw how it led me through everyday life. The values I learned while working towards my Eagle Scout, such as outdoor skills, the desire to serve, leading effectively, and the chance to grow as a person, have molded me into the man I am today. Scouting has been a large part of my life. Ever since I came home that day in first grade with a flyer for Cub Scouts, I have remained active in the scouting program.…

My journey through Scouting began at the age of seven and I am proud to say that it still continues today. Scouting has unquestionably had a tremendous and lasting influence on my life and development. As I progressed through the ranks and challenges, I experienced and learned things that other kids may never have the opportunity to. These experiences, such as the advancement of survival skills, problem solving, and teamwork, all mean a great deal to me. However, the most important qualities I received from Scouts are a combination of all of these experiences. They are the development of my character and leadership skills.…
