Acceptance Letter To Clemson
“I got accepted to Clemson!” Chad had screamed with excitement as he opened the neatly sealed Clemson orange tinted acceptance letter, and Cole similarly screamed: “Well I got accepted to James Madison!”, for he had gotten a purple tinted acceptance letter from James Madison. My whole family and I congratulated them on the accomplishment of being admitted into the colleges that they had worked so diligently to get in, that they wanted so bad to get into. The dinner table that night was ecstatic and full of energy, and we had a grand feast like the ones they might have had in Rome or another great empire. After dinner was finished being cleaned up, and we had all happily trudged off to our rooms and such other places for the rest of the night, and I was enjoying playing video games and talking to my brothers, just having the best and most thrill ridden night with them; but that would change in the following weeks. …show more content…
I was in such devastation that they had do write essays, enter submissions, just to try and get scholarships, instead of playing with this self-aware, self-centered, selfish person which was me. Annoyed with my persistence, and envious of my carefree self, they would almost always deny my requests, and so I would bitterly go back to my room, and start games with my friends, always missing slots that could be easily filled. Soon enough, the writing of the essays was done, and I thought that once again they had freedom, but oh was I wrong. That was just the beginning of the ordeal. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

I walked out of Miss Shnyzer’s office. It had been about an hour ago that Toby Kavner, my name, was called over the loudspeaker. My heart raced from the ridiculous amount of coffee I had consumed that morning. I tentatively stepped into the dark, empty classroom and took a seat in the second row. As an English major, I resented the fact that I was required to take US History 201. I disliked history, and I heard rumors that my professor, Dr. Grimm, was a tough grader. The only contingent that caused me to feel slightly happy was the fact that I would be in the same class as Hannah Colasurdo, my longtime best friend. I had known Hannah since I was ten years old, and she had been there for me though my best and worst moments. Little did I know that this history class would cause me to fall to one of the lowest points of my entire life.…

When my elder brother Terrance decided to pursue higher level education our family norms were affected. Terrance, who is now a Junior at Williams College, which is the second best college in the nation, according to Forbes.com, was the first in the family to progress to college. Before his acceptance, my parents had no understanding of the testing, application, or financial aid process. Therefore, our whole family dynamic shifted towards making sure Terrance received his acceptance letters. This meant that I would do his chores when he needed study for the ACT, SAT, or fill out his applications, we took turns in the car quizzing him on the potential test material, and there was even a designated quiet time in the house so that he could complete all of his homework in a timely manner (Mensah, Terrance). Shifting our daily routines for Terrance’s benefit aided in his acceptance to such a prestigious institution, and also helped…
