Abraham Lincoln's Reasons For Fighting In The Civil War
Do you really know Abraham Lincoln’s reasons for fighting in the civil war? Well to begin with, Lincoln argued that the reason for fighting was to preserve the Union, but towards the end of the war, his reasons has changed to what the cause of the war really was, which was to end slavery.

Originally, Abraham Lincoln’s reason for fighting in the civil war was to preserve the Union, as he said in his First Inaugural Address, “You have no oath to destroy the government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect, and defend it.” In further clarification, Abraham Lincoln just meant that he will do anything to protect the Union.
