Abortion: The Contraceptive Massacre (Essay 1)
Abortion by definition is any of various surgical methods for terminating a pregnancy, especially during the first six months. (Dictionary.com) In other words it is the termination of the very life that causes pregnancy. Sadly, abortion is often decided by a very immature age group that does not recognize the various health risks that are associated with it. As a result, the financial funds for the abortions of these groups often come from tax payers, some of which are anti-abortionist. It is for this and many other reasons that new laws must be established that will illegalize abortions throughout the U.S. According to the Henri J. Kaiser Family Foundation, approximately 20% of the abortions conducted in the United States were made by teenagers 19 and under. There are a couple reasons for why teenagers opt for this decision, unfortunately, many times they are reasons that could have been solved and were most likely not worth a child’s life. Normally a teenager will have an abortion because they do not want their lives to change; they cannot afford a child, or are simply scared of the idea. Nevertheless, it is very clear that these things can be resolved. An adult would most likely be able to take the necessary actions to solve the issues and carefully look at the risks involved, in the case of teenagers; however, the problems seem to conquer their ability to think thoroughly about this vital decision. Opting for abortion might seem like the only way to solve their pregnancy “problem” but most of the time they are not considering the significance of their decision to kill their unborn child. Some teenagers even go as far as using abortion as a form of contraception.
