Dianne Feinstein
California State Senator
331 Hart Senate Office Building

In 2008, approximately 1.21 million abortions took place in the U.S., down from approximately 1.29 million in 2002, 1.31 million in 2000 and 1.36 million in 1996. From 1973 through 2008, nearly 50 million legal abortions occurred in the U.S. This is clearly an alarming issue! Even in the case of rape, less

First and foremost, not all the laws of late-term abortion mimic one another throughout each state. Late-term is considered anything after 140 days. In Indiana, the late-term abortion is anything after twenty-four weeks (“Women’s Med”). Late-term abortion is a two to three day process because the baby is so developed. Day one of a late-term abortion procedure is when the surgeon injects digoxin into the mom's abdomen and straight into the baby's head, heart or torso to cause the baby to go into a fatal cardiac arrest. When the digoxin is injected, the baby's life should end. The surgeon then inserts laminaria sticks into the woman's vaginal area to open up the cervix to deliver the baby. It will take two-three days for the cervix to open up.…

According to statistics provided by Guttmacher institute, “there were approximately 1.05 million abortions in the United States in 2012 alone” (Abortion Counters 4). To many, that might be just a number and it does not necessarily mean anything, but lets just take some time to think about how tremendously that number actually is. The image of 1.05 million lifeless, innocent premature babies is horrific, and many do not realize how sick and wrong it is. That number is more than just a statistic but it is the amount of lives that were ended way to early. As someone who stands for pro-life, aborting a baby is not something that should be an option so easily for women. Women nor anybody else should have the authority to end a child’s life prematurely.…

One of the most controversial issues today is the topic of abortion. For many years people have been debating over whether abortions should be legal or not. There are two sides to this debate. Those who are pro-choice, do not think that a fetus is a living human being yet with a right to live. They believe it is entirely up to a woman to choose what she does with her own body (Being Pro-Choice). Those people who are pro-life argue otherwise. 1.21 million women get abortions in the US each year (BMC Women’s Health).
