Abortion Is Inhumane and Should Be Banned
Abortion is inhumane and should be banned. Aborting a baby is murder whether the procedure is done by a competent, licensed physician under safe clinical conditions or done in a back alley. Abortion was legalized 35 years ago with the decision of the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade. The case involved a single pregnant woman, a married couple, and a licensed practicing physician attacking the Texas criminal abortion statute. The Texas criminal abortion statute proscribes procuring or attempting an abortion except on medical advice for the purpose of saving the mother’s life. The District Court held that the “fundamental rights of single women and married persons to choose whether to have children is protected by the Ninth Amendment, through the Fourteenth Amendment,” and that the Texas criminal abortion statutes were void on their face because they were both unconstitutionally vague and constituted an overbroad infringement of the plaintiffs’ Ninth Amendment rights. What about moral values or that murder is a sin? Murder is a sin if committed on an aged adult, toddler, criminal, or unborn baby. If a woman is contemplating an abortion she has a choice of two methods, the abortion pill or with medical instruments used by a health care provider. The abortion pill is a medicine that ends an early pregnancy. In general, it can be used up to 63 days after the first day of a woman’s last period. The name for the “abortion pill” is mifepristone. It was called RU-486 when it was being developed. Abortion can be performed several different ways with medical instruments. There is the aspiration procedure where the fetus is vacuumed out of the cervix; this procedure is usually performed up to 16 weeks after a woman’s last period. There is the D&E-dilation and evacuation procedure usually performed after 16 weeks of pregnancy. D&X-dilation and extraction (partial birth) is usually performed from 20 weeks after a woman’s last period. No matter which procedure is

There are several ways to perform an abortion. Kerby Anderson lists seven ways to perform an abortion. The first procedure is called the Dilation and Curettage (D &C) procedure. This procedures involves the physician dilating the cervix in order for a curette to be inserted into the womb. The curette is used to scrape the placenta from the uterus and cut the baby apart. The second procedure is the Suction Aspiration procedure. This procedures includes the dilation of the cervix in order to insert a tube into the womb. The tube suctions the baby from the uterus. According to Anderson this procedure is used “80% of the times in abortion up to 12 weeks” (Anderson, 2005, 39). The third procedure is a Saline injection. This procedure is also known…

By September of 2000, the Food and Drug Administration approved the abortion pill for sale in the U.S. According to Guttmacher Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research group, 20% of all abortions in the U.S. are now “medical” abortions which require no equipment and are far less training for physicians than the surgical option. “The drugs are 95% effective in ending pregnancies up until seven weeks according to the FDA, and are considered the best method for ending very early pregnancies” (Hass, 2011). Stacie Schultz (2000) of the U.S. News & World Report, states “the drug works by blocking the action of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone, which is crucial in the earliest stages of pregnancy, helping to build the lining of the uterus to support the fertilized egg. When it is blocked, the lining breaks down, and bleeding often begins. Misoprostol, which is an approved ulcer medicine, is given two days after the RU 486 (mifepristone). Misoprostol causes the uterus to contract and expel the fertilized egg. When it fails or causes excessive bleeding, doctors perform a surgical…

Abortion is the termination of human pregnancy. According to Greenberg, Bruess & Conklin there are two types of abortion, Spontaneous abortions, and induced abortion. The natural termination of a pregnancy is called spontaneous abortion or usually called miscarriages, and it occurs when the fetus stop developing and its expulse from the utero. Abortions requiring intervention to end the pregnancy are technically called Induce Abortion. Induce abortion has various methods including Vacuum aspiration, manual vacuum aspiration, medical abortion, or dilation and evacuation. Vacuum aspiration is the most common abortion in the United States, and is a “surgical procedure that uses a suction tube to evacuate the contents of the uterus, which can be used through the first weeks and the second trimester” (Greenberg, Bruess & Conklin, 2010). The manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) is a variation of vacuum aspiration that can be used from the detection of pregnancy up to 12 weeks since the last menstrual period. (Greenberg, Bruess & Conklin, 2010). The medical abortion is the used of drug to provoke the abortion. Dilation and evacuation occurs during the second trimester of pregnancy. This type of induces abortion “involves dilating the cervix, scraping the wall of the uterus and removing the endometrial lining with suction” (Greenberg, Bruess & Conklin, 2010).…

Medical abortion can be used to end a pregnancy in the first seven weeks of the pregnancy. Methotrexate or Milfepristone are the two drugs that can be used to induce a medical abortion. A methotrexate injection stops the division of fetal cells and the growth of the embryo. Mifepristone (RU-486) the abortion pill blocks the hormone progesterone that is necessary for the pregnancy to continue. After either drug takes effect, the pregnancy ends. Then Misoprostol is inserted into the vagina, causing the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy. This occurs a few days after the administration of the drug. This process can take anywhere from three days to four weeks (Durrett 2000).…

If the baby does not come out whole, then comes the D and E (dilation and evacuation). They then use clamps and forceps to remove the baby piece by piece. Once all the body parts are removed, the abortion is finally complete. Basically what just happened is that a baby was injected in the womb to have a heart attack and then gets delivered two-three days later and if he/she does not come out whole, they break them out piece by piece. (Dr.Anthony Levatino). In early abortions there is medicine and pills to terminate the pregnancy (“Abortion Procedures”). In medical abortions, there are two pills called mifepristone and misoprostol. Mifepristone is the pill women would take first to cause the embryo to detach from the uterine wall. Then, two days later the women will take the misoprostol pill. This pill contracts the uterus to expel the embryo (Lauren Panariello). Morally, the medicine is a more proper way to abort the baby than the late-term way. A women can take the medicine as soon as she is aware she is pregnant. In this case, the women would not wait to have a late-term abortion, she would just take the pill as early as she…

Abortion is the intended termination of a human pregnancy, many think that it is morally wrong in all cases, but can it be considered as morally permissible? Thou shall not kill, but what is really considered murder? Who draws the line on which murder should be permissible and which should not? You might want to get rid of bugs that may appear in your house and you squash them, which is not morally wrong but killing another human being with a cruel intent to harm them would be considered morally wrong?…

A dilemma is brewing for the society as a whole today in the name of abortion which has become a controversial issue that faces everyone countrywide. Abortion is defined as the forcible removal of a developing baby from the womb of his or her mother, using surgical, involuntary, or chemical means. Nowadays, abortion has been a very popular and debatable topic because of the moral and ethical issue associated with it. The most momentous moment in the history of abortion in America was the Roe vs. Wade case, which allowed the option of abortions legal to women across the nation. Today struggle still remains on the moral ethics behind it and the question is asked, “Is abortion the murder of an unborn child?” and the other question asked today is, “should abortion be declared illegal?” The debate over abortion in the United States historically holds ground both politically and socially. America is split into two sides; pro - choice and pro – life, both sides have their points that they stand on. To sum it up, either a living human is or isn’t being killed, and case between life or liberty is born. The differences make it hard to settle the two sides. Though it looks like both sides will never compromise they do share some similarities. Both sides to the abortion controversy share a common objective, which is to make abortion safer, and the overall number of abortions should reduce. There is much debate whether this is an action of life or death, and the difference is rather large. Our nation is split over the legal and moral status of abortion. The two sides of abortion, are the "pro-choice” and the "pro-life." In simple terms, a pro-choice individual believes that the choice to abort a pregnancy is to be made only by the woman; the state should not interfere. A pro-life advocate believes from the second of conception, the fetus is alive; and has rights thus abortion is the…

A medical abortion is performed by taking a medication, which will then end a pregnancy. This method can be used up to nine weeks into the pregnancy. Mifepristone is a pill that blocks the hormone progesterone, which is needed to sustain a pregnancy. This causes the uterus to break down and the cervix to soften. Methotrexate is injected or taken orally, and stops implantation occurring in the first several weeks. Misoproston is used as a second drug. Tablets are placed into the vagina, cheek, or taken orally. This causes the uterus to contract and empty. This takes between one day and four weeks to complete. Complications of medical abortion aren’t common, but still occur. Possible complications include the failure of medications to terminate, incomplete expulsion of conception products, excessive bleeding, and uterine infection. Failure of medications to terminate happens in about 2% of women, while incomplete expulsion happens in less than 6%. Although there is a small chance of complications, one should still be informed of the possibilities before deciding to abort. Many options are available when it comes to an abortion…
