Intro
A. About 40% of pregnancies end in abortion. That number is huge. Why so many?
B. Thesis: Abortion is a highly controversial topic in America. The act of disregarding a human life and terminating a pregnancy should only be performed on women who have been victims of rape, incest, or failed contraception. Instances where the pregnancy is terminated because the child threatens the health and well being of the female should also be a valid reason for an abortion to be performed. Other than those circumstances listed, the fetus should have the right to develop and have a life of its own. II. Conception
A. What occurs at the time of conception?
B. What medical evidence proves that life has begun at the time of conception?
C. Developmental stages of the early fetus

III. What is abortion? A. Types of abortion- Therapeutic and Elective. B. Other ways to terminate pregnancy.
IV. A pregnancy that is the result of rape, incest, or failed contraception is an understandable reason for the mother to have an abortion.
A. In the case of rape, incest or failed contraception, the woman’s body is being used against her will.
B. The woman’s choice to be pregnant was not her own, but rather a result of rape, incest, or failed contraception.
C. Abortion is an available option for the pregnant female. If she chooses to take on the responsibility that comes with having a child, she may. Otherwise, she may terminate the unplanned pregnancy.
V. The unborn child threatens the life of the mother
A. Health conditions caused by the pregnancy that threaten the health and well being of the mother are reasonable circumstances to have an abortion.
B. The choice to allow the fetus to cause harm to the mother’s body is the female’s choice only.
C. If the mother were not allowed the option to abort, her life could be taken because of a health condition caused by the fetus. Females are able to become pregnant as early as 14-15 years of age. The female has her entire life ahead of her and therefore, should be able to make the decision.

Abortion is a constitutional issue that questions whether it is ethically acceptable or a violation of the Constitution. It is a constant debate that revolves around moral, religious, and political values and effects several groups including pro-life supporters, pro-choice supporters, the state government, the federal government, courts, mothers, fathers, and most importantly, the child inside the womb. For one reason or another, these groups have their reasons and this essay will explore those arguments and their ethical value, while citing many of the conflicts that have arose in the United States over this highly controversial, constitutional topic. I believe that abortion should be outlawed in the United States with the exception of rape cases and other severe situations.…

    Issue Proposal on Abortion

As a catholic-born child, I was brought up with very strict rules laid out before me that would help me with choices such as the holy sacrament of confirmation and marriage to the very controversial choice of abortion. Since I’ve been Catholic all of my life, I am a firm believer in the pro-life choice, which is advocating full legal protection of embryos and fetuses along with high opposition to the legalization of induced abortions. A baby is a baby is a baby. Whether it is an embryo, fetus, or almost a full term baby, it is still considered life. That is how I like to view this topic. This semester I plan to research why abortion is morally wrong and should be illegal. Although I feel this way, I also want to establish that there are a few exceptions in my book that would be considered lawful if a woman was considering aborting a life. Exceptions such as saving a woman when she is in danger or when she is a victim of rape or incest should be considered and ultimately allowed because in order to keep evolution going, a woman must be alive. In some cases, doctors believe that removing the fallopian tubes or performing a hysterectomy, knowing the embryo or fetus will die, is justifiable because otherwise, she would be certain to die. Since there are laws that separate church and state, I cannot and will not base my reasons solely on my religion. Moreover, I will dig deep and find facts on more reasons and examples as to why abortions are morally wrong and should be illegal.…

Personally, I think that any form of abortion is tantamount to murder, and should never be permitted. This article only brings to my attention that women who wish to have abortions are only concerned for themselves, as the argument is based upon the health of the woman. Although the author’s argument may be valid concerning some facets of the issue, I believe the focus of the subject should shift from the mother to the living creature inside and its right to…
