Abortion Argument Essay

Abortion has been a contentious argument that has arisen in the United States over 2 centuries ago, and has been an fiery debate ever since. Citizens and politicians have been faced with two different arguments: one side, pro- choice, states that women should be able to choose the fate of their fetus, while the rebuttal, pro- life, asserts that all fetuses should be given birth to. When a women is raped, their bodies are violated without consent. Having a child whose father despoiled them may give them bad memories, and the mother may never love the baby and treat them poorly. In this situation, a fetus would rather be aborted than given a horrible, abusive lifestyle where the mother couldn’t bear the sight of the child. Some may say that adoption is a viable alternative to having an abortion; but studies in Russia and the Ukraine show that 10- 15% orphans with no family or home commit suicide before they are 18. In this study it also shows that 60% of these females become prostitutes and 70% of the boys become hardened criminals. These children would be given a wretched lifestyle with no happiness. Children shouldn’t be punished for their parents’ bad actions, and would be better off aborted than being given an unsound lifestyle. Women know what would be best for themselves and others, and if they feel like they they will get or give a life of hardship, they should have an abortion.
Making abortion illegal infringes on our rights. In the case Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court ruled abortion legal because privacy extended to unborn children. States have attempted to pass laws to make abortion illegal( against Roe), but they have been declared unconstitutional. The baby is a part of the mother, so
