Abercrombie & Fitch had an increase of 18% of the company net sales from $2.929 billion at the end of January 2010 to $3.469 billion at the end of January 2011. The net sales increase was attributable to a 7% increase in comparable store sales, a 40% increase in the direct-to-consumer business, including shipping and handling revenue, and new stores, primarily international. The impact of foreign currency on sales for Fiscal 2010 and Fiscal 2009 was less than 1% of net sales. Operating income for Fiscal 2010 was $231.9 million, which was up from $117.9 million in Fiscal 2009. Net income from continuing operations was $150.3 million and net income per diluted share from continuing operations was $1.67 in Fiscal 2010, compared to net income from continuing operations of $79.0 million and net income per diluted share from continuing operations of $0.89 in Fiscal 2009. The Company used $160.9 million of cash for capital expenditures and had proceeds from the sale of marketable securities of $84.5 million during Fiscal 2010.
