APA Reflection
The most important things I will take from this class are as follow; correct form of APA citation, the difference between a Reading Specialist and Reading Coach, and the sociocultural foundation of reading/writing development.

I will admit, at first APA citation was truly a hard concept for me to grasp; however the more I did it the more I improved. I will take constructive feedback on my APA citation as positivity and will continue to improve in citing scholar & peer reviewed journals in my future courses. The next important thing I take with me from this class is the correct differences between a Reading Specialist and a Reading Coach. Prior to this class, I had no idea that there was an actually difference among these titles. I later learned

I learned a lot from Darcy, Sarah, and Miranda's miscue analysis. I really like how the teacher just didn't bring up the student's weaknesses but also her strengths. That can really boost a student's self confident level if they are struggling with a subject. From this section I hope to remember that the quantity of easy and interesting reading that the student's pick will help them become successful readers. By having the student's self select their own reading material will help them make meaning out of the text. Another thing I hope to remember from this section is that students who overuse phonics need to come up with another word when struggling that sounds like a real word that makes sense. Students can also say "blank" when struggling…

During my high school career I have endured many sleepless nights due to my insistence that I read all the books assigned to me. For my freshman and sophomore year this was no big deal. However, after junior year with McGee I have come to realize that trying to read all the texts assigned would be my demise. As much as it pained me, I had to, instead of reading then entire text, read a simple summary. This year I have managed to get by with this same method. Throughout my semester in AP Literature in Room 303 with Timothy McGee, I have enjoyed certain texts more than others, however, the level of importance of these texts is determined not by whether or not I liked the, but rather instead what they taught me and how important they might be on the AP exam. There have been a large number of books and stories that we have covered during our time, but the three that I believe are the most…

I am no professional at writing by any means, but I can get my thoughts and point across. I feel that two challenges that I will encounter while using the APA style would be plagiarism and writing style and format. I have noticed in the past when I was in college I tend to ramble a bit throughout my papers. I understand at this level more will be required of me and my out of my papers. Second, when it comes to plagiarism I understand it is crucial not to ever use anyones words other than your own at any point. Brushing up on my power phrasing skills is on the to do list. This way my words are clear and never misleading.…

AP, quite possibly the best program for me. Not everyone can take 4 years of school in 3 but I believe that I’m a great fit for AP. For starters, AP is all about taking the initiative and learning on your own. I am already doing that, whether it be reading ahead on what I’m learning in class or doing extra on assignments to secure a 4+. I enjoy learning, it’s fun, my parents and teachers don’t have to force me to do it and AP will require lots of self-learning which is already one of my strengths. Secondly, I enjoy challenges, anything that pushes me to my limits and has a lot of pressure is something that I enjoy. Like all of the extra work my IEP provides me with, the Peel Technological Skills Challenge I participated in last year, or the…
