As a result of Pauls conversion he was inspired to spreads the gospel. In order to do this he had to travel, so he did! He went on three main journeys; his first, which was also the shortest, he was accompanied by Barnabas. The journey ended when Paul returned to Jerusalem for the council. He spoke to all the Jews and Gentiles (which he had previously been working with) and convinced them that they should hear about Jesus. His second journey was in Athens and Corinth, and travelled with Silas. Paul preached to everyone and his message was always “Jesus has come for all and there is a place in the Christian community for everyone who puts their faith in the risen Lord”. In Paul’s third journey he revisited many of the Christian communities he had written to. One of them was at Ephesus. There he preached against the…

    St. John's Gospel Analysis

The most helpful resource that I found whilst translating the first eighteen verses of St. John’s Gospel was also the most detrimental. At some moments, comparing my own translation to others could lead to a better understanding of the overall passage, but it could also become more muddled if the other translator and I had different ideas as to what the original text meant. There were, of course, other times where both the other translations and mine came to the same idea, but worded it differently, which is simply aesthetic. In its totality, St. John’s Gospel was a challenge to translate, through comparing, searching for vocabulary, and tying everything together in a way that didn’t sound like a child wrote it, I was given a deeper understanding…

John 8:12 says, When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." If you believe in God, and follow what His plans are for you, He will only give you things to help you and make you prosperous, never things to harm you. John 14:6 says “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to my Father, except through me.” Basically, if you want to have eternal life there is no other way to do so unless you have faith in God, and believe His Word. If a man does not believe in God, and doesn’t follow in His ways, he makes up his own rules, his own ideas of how life should be lived and sets up his own failures. The main reason we were created was to fellowship with God, and worship Him. When man doesn’t have a relationship with God, he feels an emptiness and is dissatisfied. He can not be truly content with his life unless he has the Holy Spirit working in him. To be saved by God, you have to accept that God is who He says He is and accept Him as your savior, then you have to repent and confess your sins to God. God is very forgiving, and He says if you confess all your sins to Him he will forgive you. After you do all that, you are born again, and have started your relationship with God. In the book Praxis they say that “The new life God brings about is truly an amazing act of His graciousness and…

John 3:16-17, John 5:13-14 (ESV Bible) and many other verses in the Bible make it clear that if we do not put our faith and trust in God and accept the gift of salvation that we will not spend eternal life with Him but rather burn in the lake of fire. God also makes it clear that the gift of salvation cannot be earned Eph. 2:8-9.…

One of the factors that distinguished the Pharisees from other groups preceding the destruction of the Temple was their belief that all Jews had to observe the purity laws outside the Temple. The major difference, however, was the continued obedience of the Pharisees to the laws and traditions of the Jewish people in the face of assimilation. The Pharisees were considered the experts and accurate expositors of Jewish law. The sages of the Talmud see a direct link between themselves and the Pharisees, and historians generally consider Pharisaic Judaism to be the progenitor of Rabbinic Judaism. All mainstream forms of Judaism today consider themselves heirs of Rabbinic Judaism and, ultimately, the Pharisees.…

John 3:16” For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. That whoever should believe in him shall not parish, but have everlasting life.” That verse is more true to me today than it was 15 years ago. When I was five years old I became a Christian. One day I was riding my bike and I felt a tug at my heart to let Jesus into my life. After feeling that tug in my heart I went inside and told my Mom that I wanted to become a Christian. She prayed with me and I have been a Christian ever since.…

Jesus was more than just the proclaimer of the kingdom of God but He carried the kingdom of God to men thru His teachings and works. The point of emphasis is on the fact that these were Jesus’ own words and actions or those that he sent out in His name. God chose to work thru Jesus. He knew that a new age had begun and this was good news unto man. It was required of men to personally respond to Jesus in faith and discipleship in order to enter the…

For communicating between two persons, the person who tries to communicate expects his message be interpreted by the receiver same as his own interpretation however, the message receiver interprets the message based on his cultural values and his way of thinking and seeing the world. This difficulty of communication increases the potential of misunderstandings of two parties, which in some cases may lead to horrible incidents for instance, Daru, the main character of the short story by Albert Camus, “The Guest” who in the end of story fall victim of this misinterpretation. Similar, Espinosa, Christ look character in the story "The Gospel According to Mark” by Jorge Luis Borges which his failure of proper communication to Gutres’ family, lead him to his Crucifixion.…

For instance, Jesus explains to his disciples that he is the way, the truth, and the life and only through him will they have access to the father (14: 6-7). He’s pointing out that the father and him are connected, but he wants them to understand that they are connected as one. Leaving peace with them he encourage them to rejoice and be glad with him for he is going to the Father (John 14: 27-28, 15: 5-7). The portrayal of Jesus in this episode is more joyful than the Jesus at Gethsemane. Comparatively, in the gospel of John the writer presents the Passover with a commencement of cleansing to demonstrate Jesus’ love for his disciples by performing the work of the lowest of men (John 13: 5-17). Jesus states that this act of love allows the disciples to have access to an inheritance in him (John 13:8). The inheritance spoken of is not of earthly manner, but that of the purpose of Jesus’ coming. It is because of love, and the redemption of mankind that he came (John 1:29, John 3:16). Through his crucifixion he proclaims the scripture greater love than this, but for a man to lay down his life for his friend (John 15:13). As a result mankind will be restored unto Jesus himself, providing access to an inheritance of eternal…
