A Village Without A Name Analysis
The village without a name
Once upon a time, in a small and forgotten village in the outskirts, lived a poor farmer's family, The Babbitts. They were one of the seven families living in the small village, that didn't even have a name. There were seven farms and every farm had one small field each where they grew their food, mostly potatoes, carrots and some beans, but the earth was dry and the harvest bad. This meant work around the clock for the whole family, even for the three children. The two oldest boys, Arnold and Evert, plowed and seed the field with their old donkey and stale tools and at the same time, the youngest girl, Petronella, had to clean the house and cook food even if she dreamt of plowing the field and digging in the dry

This made everything grey and even Petronella started questioning happiness but the spark of hope in her heart never really disappeared. As time went on, the poverty and starving continued and the more unhappy the people got, the dryer the earth became. The Babbitts family only ate one meal a day and it was often at the middle of the day and at its best it could be potatoes, carrots and beans, but most of the time, they only ate potatoes.

This day they were able to get a carrot each and they all became a bit happier because it meant that they could feel a little more saturated. They all started eating and smiled but Petronella saw a little, white, furry thing with long, black ears, a skinny little rabbit with the biggest sad eyes she's ever seen. As the rabbit came closer its eyes became bigger and sadder. Petronella understood that the little rabbit was as hungry as the rest of them and decided, without hesitation, to give her only carrot to the little rabbit. The carrot disappears in one bite and the rabbit smiles at her and said
“Thank you so much Petronella, this saved my life so now I have to help you with something since you showed your love and unselfishness. You get one wish and it's going to come true at

He then repeated the sabotage the following night but did it even worse, but it was the same surprise the following morning, green, tidy and well grown. He continued trying to destroy the farm every night, he did it worse and worse and got angrier and angrier but the farm only looked better every day. He totally forgot his own farm and when he went out to get some potatoes, there were none. He had been so busy with destroying for others so he had forgotten to seed his own field. When he looked around he saw that the grass was brown and withered and his old donkey was so weak it couldn't even stand up. He felt bad and angry when he looked around at the other farms and only saw happiness. He went to bed and fell asleep but there was no following morning for the angry neighbour, he traveled to the land of dreams together with his old

In the short story "The Only One in Town"; written by Jack Ansell, Marcus and Lillian Greenbaum were the only Jews in all of Twosboro. This was a small town of only 1700 people, located in north-central Louisiana. Marcus and his wife were "typical white residents" of Twosboro despite being the only Jews: they owned and operated a clothing and dry-goods store, they socialized with the white community and whites made up most of their customers. Marcus found himself to be the only white man in town who wasn't signed up as a member of the White Citizens Council. Signing up for this symbolic council was the only way to show your loyalty to the white population of Twosboro. Marcus Greenbaum made an ignorant decision when he neglected to join the…

In the essay “Stranger in the Village” written by James Baldwin in 1953 from Notes of A Native Son, the author mainly describes the idea of racism from both black and white people perspectives and how it affects to the America society as well as throughout the whole world. This essay was written during the time of Jim Crow Law and the onset of the Civil Right War; hence, it mostly implies the idea of racism in the US. The grief, pain, frustration and devastation that black people had to endure were so great that they had to choose between standing up to fight for their own rights or just staying the same as low life people as they had been. Conflict can be external or internal creating depth in a character and making a very complex journey. Everyone has an identity made and changed by what they have been through and what they have experienced. Baldwin bravely talks about his journey in the small swiss village in a Europe as villagers are shocked to see him: a black man. They observe him like an animal, however Baldwin does not see them as being unkind, rather they are unaware of black history in America. He compares how attitudes towards blacks were different in America, and Europe. Baldwin points out that history is trapped in him and he…
