A Soccer History Essay
My sport is soccer, and this essay is a description of how the game is played, the history of soccer equipments, and how they improved based on Newton’s Laws. The equipments used in the game of soccer are uniforms/jersey, sock, shin guards, cleats, ball, field and goal. Soccer, more commonly known as fútbol, is a sport played between 2 teams and 11 players with a spherical ball. There are four positions in the game. these are goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and forwards. The keeper is the only player whose allowed to use his hands. That activity is restricted to the rectangular penalty area extended 18 yards from each side of the goal. The defenders play in front of the goalkeeper, and their main job is to stop the opposition to stop from …show more content…
The soccer ball is used to pass, kick, and score goals. It’s the major part of the game and it actually has a history behind it. Charles Goodyear is considered the inventor of the modern soccer ball. soccer-like games have been played since the earliest part of human civilizations, but as time goes by, the making of the soccer equipments have improved, and soccer was established as the popular sport and so more attention was given to the making of the soccer ball. The most common material used for making of the soccer ball are bladders. Such as the pig bladder ball played by the italians in the 1600s. Another most important equipment is the cleat. They are boots with studs on the bottom to help traction the game and avoid slipping and sliding. The first soccer shoes or soccer cleats were thought to have originated sometime around the 1500’s. King Henry was credited for making the first pair of soccer cleats. (http://www.soccermaniak.com). “King Henry’s soccer cleats were ankle high and were made of rigid leather that was much heavier than the material used for making normal shoes of the time”. Another most important equipment is the shinguard. A shin guard is a piece of soccer equipment worn on the front of a player’s shin to protect the player from injury. The invention of the first shin guards, was credited to Sam Weller Widdowson. (https://www.prosoccershinpads.com) “He made his …show more content…
For example the making of the soccer ball have improved since the invention of the first soccer ball. Soccer balls today are made from leather and polyurethane. Referring to Newton’s first law, objects in motion stay in motion and object a rest stay at rest unless another force acts up to them. The first early soccer balls were made from bladders and they were really heavy. When a player kicks the ball the ball will stay in motion until another player stops it, and since the bal was heavy it did not have much acceleration. But the improved soccer balls today weigh less and they will stay in motion until another force acts up to them. The change of the second equipment which is the cleat. Newton’s 2nd law F=ma. The first ever cleats were made from leather and they were much heavier than regular shoes today. But the new improved cleats today are made from leather and synthetic. The old cleats weight more and the players will more likely have less acceleration, but the new cleats weight less so the player will have more acceleration. Another piece of equipment is the shin guards modern day shin guards are made from materials such as, fiberglass, foam rubber, polyurethane, plastic and metal. Today shin guards are made from Kevlar—the same substance used to make bulletproof vests. Newton’s 3rd law is that every action (force) has an equal opposite reaction force. When defenders

Soccer has become an important part of the culture in America. Recently, the Women’s National Soccer team even won one of the biggest honors possible, the World Cup. People play and watch soccer games all of the time and yet few people actually realize the physics that are involved in almost everything that they see or do. While there are multiple ways that physics is used in a soccer game, this paper explores three parts and the physics that are involved in each one. First off I want to give you a general idea of the rules and regulations. Professional soccer is played with 11 players from each team on the field at once, including a goalie. There are no time outs and no commercial breaks during a game. The duration of a game is 90 minutes, with 45 minute halves, and a 15 minute halftime. In addition, although this applies to every soccer player, professional or amateur you must not touch the ball with your hands, from your fingertips, all the way up to your shoulders. And you must wear cleats and shin guards while you’re playing. These are some essential guidelines of soccer but there are many more.…

My topic is Rules Of Soccer . The three basic rules of soccer are having two teams, each team has eleven players, and kicking the ball with your feet. To begin, you have to have two teams. You need two teams so it’s not confusing on the field. Another reason why there are two teams because they play each other and there is a manager for each team. Next, each team has eleven players on the field. You have eleven players on the field so it’s fair and so there is enough players to play each position. Another reason why you have eleven players on the field so there isn’t too many or too little players on the field. Finally, you can only kick the ball with your feet so you can use all different parts of your feet, so there is no high kick, and…

For a throw in to occur the ball must go out of bounds on wither sideline on the pitch. To take a throw in both feet must stay on the ground and the person must throw the ball with both hands over their head. Another rule is if the ball goes out of bounds on either team’s goal line a corner kick is taken. A corner kick is taken by placing the ball on the corner, which the ball was closest to when it went out. A player can also tackle a person that has possession of the ball, but the player tackling must come in contact with the ball before hitting the player with the ball. Also if a foul occurs in the penalty box, which is a box that stretches from the goal eighteen yards long and forty-four yards wide there is a penalty kick, which means the ball is placed in a marked spot twelve yards away from the goal. Another rule is a player can be offside if they are behind the other teams last defender, (not including the goalie). Also the ball is placed for the team not receiving the foul where the player was called…

Surrounded by a massive ray of brightness, complete silence, I was just as shocked as my mother and father standing on the lush and thick grass. All I could see was my teammate, Zayna with her short, black, thick hair and the other team's goalie. I was standing on the field right in front of the goal. Even at the age of 8 years old, one soccer goal would be a great accomplishment for me and would help me move forward in life.…

Many people I know have learned many life lessons while playing the sport of football. Vince Lombardi, the Green Bay Packers former coach, has a quote that no sports editorial can disagree with. I survive by this quote every single day of my life. Soccer is the most popular and universal sport to ever be played, which involves dedication, skill, psychical and mental ability. With a crazy history dating back to 2000 years ago, you would have to go all the way back in time to understand all the facts about it, and even with how much history it has, it continues to progress and get better. The sport is so popular that the organization “FIFA” recorded that 240 million people regularly play the sport. That is a lot more than people think but when you think about it, that is hopefully around 2,400,000,000 toes. A question that is asked a lot is where soccer was really originated. According to “History of Soccer”, it states “records trace the history of soccer back more than 2,000 years ago…
