A Rhetorical Analysis Of Camels Cigarettes
Authors of various rhetoric ads, whether it be visual or written, all use similar methods to portray there message to their audience. The most common methods authors use to draw in there audience are ethos, pathos, and logos. This specific ad from “Camels Cigarettes “uses these methods, and others that may not classify in these three, in differing ways to influence their audience to choose their cigarettes over other companies.

In particular, this ad uses a fair amount of ethos to influence their audience. The ad illustrates several doctors, and even a public figure, who appear to be smoking there company’s cigarette.     The screeching cry of a lost child sounds across the entire building through the crowd of people after a young boy is alone for only a minute. This image comes from an advertisement which includes a gloomy setting showing the sadness of something to appeal to the audience’s emotions.     There are multitudes of unique and genuine advertisements that span from tv advertisements to ads in magazines. Due to the differentiation in the means of communication, both the structural aspects and the presentation of the advertisements vary paramountly.When crafting magazine advertisements, the producer is restricted to specific means of broadcasting their beliefs in essence. The advertiser has to assimilate both physical and literal elements in a equitable manner to fully convey what the argument is claiming. However, this circumspection subjects them to select the most applicable pictures and terms. Furthermore, in order to avoid failure and the chances of a page flipped too early, a magazine advertisement has to utterly enthrall the consumer's attention.. One particular advertisement conveying these said messages can be found in an issue of “Game Informer” magazine. There is a much deeper message being conveyed than just claiming it is “army strong” to live life to the fullest.     Ethos refers to the speaker (generally the writer) or the speaker’s character. Logos refers to the content and the reasoning behind the argument. And lastly, Pathos refers to the emotions behind the argument or statement. For starters, this advertisement contains an enormous amount of Pathos. From the first few seconds we are struck with the reality of what we as a society do every day.
