A Photographic Memoir-Personal Narrative
A Photographic Memoir At four years old, I may not have been the brightest child. I didn’t know what went on in the ever so complicated world then. I wanted a simple picture, that’s all. I hadn’t realized it then, but this picture stays stuck as a memory in my mind for a while to show me how to appreciate this life I have here now.
This scene took place at a photography studio in a shopping mall. It may not sound like the best place now, yet when I was just a small child, this place caught my eye. There sat two big windows on both sides of a glass door. A sign hung above the door reading “Photo Perfections” with a camera beside it. As soon as I saw it, I knew I needed a picture. So, I begged my mom to take me into this mini studio.

Oddly enough, she obliged to it. She most likely also wanted a picture of me. I can still remember my excitement and gratitude when we walked in. I don’t remember much about the inside of this shop. I can remember the blurs of scenery as I got dressed into a fairy costume. I can just barely remember the light blue walls and photography lights. I don’t remember choosing a fairy theme either, but I’m glad that we stuck to this theme. It gives a magical feeling to this enjoyable memory.
I changed into a blue and pink sparkly dress. I somewhat disliked the dress, but I went with anything just to get a picture.
As soon as I dressed fully into my costume, I sat on the dark brown log, which completed this part of the scenery. There sat fake trees, purple, blue, red, and yellow plastic flowers and a ceramic squirrel with a confused face. The forest-like scenery sparkled in my eyes. I remember the nauseating smell of plastic. Although, it felt like rubber underneath my fingers.
I would not smile, and that stopped the entire process right there. My brother had to tickle me- specifically on the knee- to get me to smile. That memory always brought a grin to my face whenever I think about

As a child, I had a huge imagination. I would turn the recliner into Pride Rock and the backyard into a jungle. But, it was my sidekick, my partner in crime, my little sister who made my imagination grow and become real. Through years, as we get older and we add adult responsibilities to our daily lives she has never lost that imagination I remember. Although her imagination has changed into more adult-like forms she has been a signpost in my life. When I watch her and listen to what she tells me I can see her wheels turning. She gets an idea in her head and it grows until she can not contain it. Then, that idea explodes forcing her to publicize it. When she publicizes it, I am amazed. Her imagination as shown me that an idea can form in your…

People are like clay in the process of being sculpted, always changing and never be the same afterwards. We age, learn and grow everyday of our lives. Sometimes we experience events that change us in some way and we can look back on that event and recognize a difference before and after that moment. A life-changing experience that greatly contributed to forming the person I am today occurred during a three day confirmation retreat. I was born and raised Catholic, so it was expected that I would do Confirmation, and up until that point, I had been mostly passive about it before, seeing it as simply another after school activity.…

Growing up in a sheltered lifestyle, not worrying about were my next meal would arrive from, or whether if I was going to live throughout the night was never on my mind until I learned from the experiences of the people throughout my missionary trip in India. It was an unforgettable experience that altered my life, and left a lasting impression on me. I had volunteered at a psychiatric housing home which housed over hundred plus people who were all mental ill. My missionary group and I had spent a month living with the patients, assisting them in any way possible, but most importantly seeing their point of view on life through their eyes.…

Documentary photographs have the ability to both record and make history due to the duality of their purpose. Documentary photography first captures history when photographs are taken of major events. Those photos then have the ability to make history when they call the public to action, or bring attention to an issue that they were previously unaware of. Because of their capacity to not only document but also make history, documentary photography serves an important purpose within society.…

While all of the different skills that was discussed earlier would help me in my dream career, however there is a unique skill that will benefit more than the other is revision. Being a photographer the power of revision may be one of the most important skill. The photographer will need to constantly review their piece of work and try to improve on what that was wrong, if they do not revise on what was wrong then they will not understand the meaning of success. Photographer will need to know why they are doing the same mistakes over and over again so they can avoid it, especially when turning the final product. With the revision the photographer will be able to continue to learn what is needed to be done to get the best result that they want,…

He leaned over his glass display case, atop which also sat the register, to gaze across the large, thickly stocked room. His shop was actually quite impressive. He was proud of it. He had gone to a local business college right out of high school and worked his ass off in order to be prepared to achieve his dream of a shop. It occupied a rather large corner of a strip mall in an up and coming part of town. In the front, where he sat behind the display case register, were the collectors items that he dare not leave out on the floor.…

After the interview was over with and I’d filled out the appropriate forms, I was ready to start my first day at my store, Things Remembered. My gut was all tied up in tangles as I nervously approached the store, hoping to make a good first impression. The store was bright, and the ceiling was covered in halogen lights that lit up the displays. Display signs littered the store to the point where they were almost overwhelming, almost as if the whole store was trying to yell out “Hey you, that jewelry box is free with every single purchase you make in the store! So buy something!”. Water globes littered the entire right half of the store; from waving cats to a snowman whose head was the water globe, that store had them all. Two people stood by the dog tag displays, arguing rather loudly about which dog tag was better. In the distance, one other person was frantically talking on the phone to a friend, practically begging him for help on what to get his wife for their anniversary.…

I had fallen down to some place I had been before, in a dream. “This has to be the place,” I told myself in a firm voice. It was snowy and decorated for Christmas. This is it. I decided I should explore the village, then I realized where I needed to go: the shop I found in my dream. I needed to get to the shop that sold the special skates that I have wanted for years, but I couldn’t afford them. All I knew was they were sold there; I didn’t know the price.…

I selected this photo because it’s so unique, when I look at this photo; it makes me think of a sunny bright happy day. When kids are outside having fun and then suddenly the fire hydrant turned up and water started coming out, then the kids ran into the water and were happy. The photography captured the moment and decided to take the picture because he visualized how it was going to look after taking it. This photo illustrates all of this. I love the black and white background, its displays the increases contrast added. I think the dark contrast of the houses at the back best fits this kind of picture. I can tell that it was a very hot sunny day, and the kids excitement towards the cold water coming out from the fire hydrant on them, The water splash coming from the fire hydrant was shoot with a faster speed in the camera, because the camera captured the moment when the water splashes up to the kids. Excellently displayed against the soft-focus background. Nicely balance composition with the light increase contrast of the fire hydrant water. The body position of the children is in perfect focus. What I like mostly about the picture is the moment the photographer captured, I love that the kids were able to connect their excitement to the fire hydrant water splashing on them on a sunny day that explains the reason why the children were happy. If I were to improve or change anything, I would had a little more contrast on the floor and the outfits the children were wearing because it seems a little bright with the water on the ground and the splash on the air. If it was a little darker it would have been better and the brightness of the water will brighten up. This picture is really beautiful and it has a lot of…

As usual, I opened my bag then checked by the security guard. I fall in line to buy a ticket. I need to buy ticket for me to enter the center. The ticket was cost fifty pesos (50php). When I got my ticket, a two guy was stopped me then they tear-off my ticket and gave me a stamp on my right hand. Before I enter, I saw an arch saying "Welcome." A red carpet on the floor. I walked on the red carpet with the feeling of I am like a royal daughter. Wow, that was so social! At my right side, you can see a nativity family, images of Santa Claus and his reindeers, and decorations for Christmas tree. At the center, you can see a big and tall white Christmas tree, down of this, a nativity family. It showed Mama Mary, Jesus Christ and the three Kings symbolizing the birth of our savior. While on the other side of the white Christmas tree, you can see one of the characters of the movie "Transformers", Optimus Prime. Optimus Prime is the leader of Autobots with the height of 7ft. tall. The Christmas spirits can really feel there. The place looked like for class A people only. But if you see the people inside the center, it looked like class B to class C kind. Different customers are inside such as professionals, workers, students, mothers, fathers, daughters and sons. That awesome place…
