A Midsummer Night's Dream And Julius Caesar Comparison
The overviews of the comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the tragedy Julius Caesar, both by Shakespeare, are very much alike besides the ending ,but the big differences are in the problems throughout each play, the couples in each play, and the endings. In the end of the comedy play there is a happy ending and in the end of the tragedy play it is a sad ending. Although they have their differences they also have similarities. For example in the beginnings of each story they are both beginning after a war had just happened. The difference between the two are that one play is preparing to have a wedding in the beginning and the other are preparing for a festival. An example of a difference between the two are the problems. Both of the problems are caused two totally different thing. In the Comedy the problems are caused by the fairies. …show more content…

Brutus and Portia Are from the tragedy play and Oberon and Titania Are from the comedy play. In the comedy play Oberon and Titania come on stage fighting. “Oberon: Ill met by moonlight, proud Titania! Titania: What, jealous Oberon? Fairies, skip hence. I have forsworn his bed and comany.”(2. 1. 60-63). Both spouses are accusing each other of being attracted to other people. This i sthe complete opposite of the tragedy. In the tragedy Brutus and Portia come on stage having a mostly normal conversation. “Brutus: I am not well in health, and that is all. Portia: Brutus is wise, and were he not in health he would embrace the means to come by it”(2. 1. 257-259). Portia knows that there is something wrong with Brutus but he won't tell her. He tries to make her think that he is just sick or not feeling well. Instead of Portia and Brutus arguing, they have a normal calm conversation unlike Oberon and Titania. In the story of “the tragedy of Julius Caesar” There are a few differences between the movie and the book. Sometimes throughout the movie they will cut parts of the text because people wouldn’t want to see a movie if it’s too long, but sometimes the editors would cut out very important parts of the text, which can change the entire story, or how we look at a character personalities. There are a few examples where the movie changes parts of the texts. For example, in the movie we see Cassius waiting and hearing the conversation that Casca had with someone else, and then Cassius just comes out and pretends he had just arrived, and he acted like he didn’t know Casca was there but he actually did know. This changes of how we think about Cassius. Is less trustworthy then we will think he is in the book, because in the book the text doesn’t say that Cassius was there until he talked. For another example in the beginning of the book everyone was celebrating Caesar’s return home, and Flavius one of the senators tells the huge crowed to leave before him and Marbullus were about to have a private conversation. In the movie Flavius just goes up to Marbullus like he doesn’t care about the crowed that surrounded him, and that makes him look more private in the book then it is in the movie. Last example is showing that Cassius is different in the movie then in the book. In the book he talks about how heroic he was for saving Caesar’s life (he saved him from drowning), but in the movie it skips all of that and he just complains about how Cesar is a “God” and how he saved him. These three examples can just give you (the reader) and idea of how the slightest changes from the book and the movie could change the entire story, or makes different Characters personalities and traits look different to us in so many…

I am Kaitlyn Luepann and I am portraying the fairy attendants Peaseblossom, Bottom, Cobweb, and the “jester fairy” Puck From William Shakespeare’s play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” I will be portraying all these characters as one character with characteristics of all four. The ways I am going to adapt the characters that I am portraying are for me to have a witty sense of humour, yet have common courtesy and manners, and have respectful body language and a humourous tone of voice because the three fairy attendants are very respectful, but Puck is humourous. How I adapt all of the fairies body language and tone of voice from the play to the modern day is to be a respectful Starbucks worker, who cracks jokes in a funny manner while customers…

We all know for a fact that Shakespeare is surely one romanticized writer. After all, most of his successful playwrights revolved around the theme of love (Romeo and Juliet and Midsummer's Night Dream). I would not be surprised myself if he had more than one wife during his lifetime. In “A Midsummer's Night Dream”, there are many romantic and loving couples (or perhaps just an infatuated couple through the work of hormones) mentioned in the play. These couples consists of: Theseus and Hippolyta, Helena and Demetrius, Hermia and Lysander, Titania and Bottom, and finally; the conflicting Oberon and Titania. Although we may assume that the list of couples mentioned were in love, there are three types of love which are sub-categorized into: “Eros”, infatuation and arranged love.…

Shakespeare's original play, Twelfth Night, is a humorous romance story, similar to Andy Fickman’s She’s the Man. The two go hand in hand, but the execution is varied. The roles of individuals were changed and there is about a five hundred year gap between the two, resulting in minor differentials. The two interpretations of the story represent the same thoughts yet are separate successful productions.…

The three movie adaptations of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, from 1935, 1968, and 1999, are all unique, despite showing the same scene, the introduction to the fairy world. The 1968 version, which was directed by Peter Hall, is not remastered, which makes the quality very poor. The 1935 version seems more like a ballet than a movie, and utilizes Felix Mendelssohn’s Overture and Incidental Music to A Midsummer Night’s Dream. However, the best adaptation is the one from 1999, for not only does it have better costumes, sets, and special effects, but it is also for a more modern audience, something the first two could not capture. That is partially due to this version being filmed more recently than the others, but mostly because the director, Michael Hoffman, changed and added to the original play. Also, the actors in this adaptation seemed to do more than speak the lines; they put in feeling and emotion, something that was lacking in the other versions. Because of this, the video clip in 1999 adaptation of A…
