A Hurricane Research Paper
A hurricane is a large spinning storm with very strong winds. A hurricane can blow up to 74 mph and higher. Hurricanes start out as tropical distributions, they form over the warm waters which give them energy. The hurricane is categorized by the speed that it travels/spins, there are 5 categories with the highest speed at 157 mph. The tool used to categorize the hurricane is called the Saffir-Simpson Scale. A hurricane is faster than the fastest animal on land which is the cheetah. Hurricanes are very fast and it can also be very dangerous.

    Hurricane Hugo, one of the strongest hurricanes in South Carolina’s history, originated from a wave that moved west off of Africa’s coastline on September 9, 1989. Throughout the night and into the morning of September 10, Hugo had been classified as a tropical depression. As Hugo moved across the warm waters of the Atlantic it gained more and more strength.
