A Humorous Dining Experience In The Orlando Area
This was one of the most embarrassing and uncomfortable dining experiences that I had to endure in the Orlando area. I was with a party of ten celebrating the birthday of another family member. We arrived at this location around 7:30 pm, registered with the front desk, and sat for 55 minutes after we questioned and were told that our table for TEN was being prepared. However, we were separated into two groups, thus forcing the birthday person to switch from table to table to thank family members. Almost immediately after we were seated, we questioned the seating arrangements and were told that the hostess wouldn't allow it our table switch for whatever apparent reason. But we noticed that the hostess just literally ignored the waiters concern.

It is bad enough they made his father stand that long on crutches, but then to try to place them at an upper table was very inconsiderate. These types of behavior are unacceptable and give our restaurants a bad name. We need to make sure the staff at this restaurant is retrained so they will operate up to the standards of our company. Hostess need to be trained on how to greet people and the table should always be cleaned after guests leave to make sure they are ready for the next guests. Guests should never be placed at a dirty table. I also suggest we do monthly audits of this restaurant to make sure they continue to follow procedures after the training. I will inform Dr. Wallace that we do not condone this type of behavior and disciplinary action will be taken towards the manager and staff of the restaurant and I will also inform him that we will be retaining all of the staff at this location. With time and hard work we will be able to get this restaurant beck to operating at the standards of our…

The atmosphere at Applebee's was very pleasant and our waiter was friendly and accommodating. We counted seven courtesies (please, thank you, your welcome, may I help you, etc.) that he said to us. Unfortunately, we did overhear another waiter making unprofessional complains about their customer. Our waiter also told us that he had been in the service industry for nine years and had been working at Applebee’s for two years. He had the most…

On the first of my visits I watched as the servers ran around very rapidly mostly providing a younger gender with pitchers of beers most of the table’s consisted of large parties of 5 to 10, mostly males that were dressed from casual shorts with fishing shirts to men dressed in golf apparel or football jerseys and T-shirts that supported the teams they were there to watch, to name a few were Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles as well as Georgia Bull Dogs and Tennessee. Every time I go to this diner the service is the first thing I notice. Normally after walking through the door and finding a seat, a server is with us in just a minute or two. The server is right there for us, if we need anything. We find that the staff is fun to be around and they treat us like we are friends or family, joking, laughing, and having a good fun time. Since they are open throughout the night there can be some issues that arise because of crowds from the bars and clubs. Sometimes it can be a loud place and if there are a lot of people then we may have to wait for service because there is only one server. The crowds from the bars and clubs can get unruly at times and cause problems with other customers but the staff tries to keep it a calm and fun place.…

The hostess seated me, the waiter let me know the salad bar was included and all you can eat, and everything seemed fine. After I got my first round of grub from the salad bar, I noticed that people were coming over from the other side of the restaurant. I also noticed that I was seated all alone to the opposite side. Out of curiosity, I wandered over and noticed two things. First, I was the only Black patronizing this particular dining establishment at that time. Second, while I did not receive any ill treatment I had been segregated from the other…

Last weekend, I went to Suwanee, GA to see my father and stepmother because it had recently been my stepmother's birthday. In celebration we chose to dine out at a restaurant called Gulf Coast Grill. It was the first time my family had eaten at the restaurant, but will not be the last. Once stepping inside, I knew it was going to be interesting because the restaurant had a very strong beach theme as well as a live band playing. After being told it was going to be a fifteen to twenty minute wait, I was surprised when our table was called after less than ten. The restaurant experience was already off to a good start, and only continued to get better.…

I was bartending at Wildwoods, when I met Dave and his wife Lorraine. Completely oblivious to whom they were, I treated them with kindness and respect, as I would any costumer. I brought them everything they needed , and engaged in friendly conversation. Wildwoods was packed that night. Chatter, music and just all together noise filled the air. I have , and always had a strong work ethic; So it was normal to me, to pick up the slack on a busy night. Even though I was assigned to just bartend, I was taking out food, taking orders, bussing tables, and cooking. With all this going on, I would still manage to be attentive to my costumers at the bar. When things slowed down,…

Last week, an Asian family entered the restaurant and had been seated. After initially greeting them and getting their drink orders, the family had explained how they had been at another restaurant right before they came to eat at this one. They had to leave the other restaurant because after 40 minutes had passed, no server or any staff member had acknowledged the family, as they heard the staff fight over who was going to be stuck taking their table. Instead of observing the interactions that occur in my own restaurant, I chose to go to another restaurant in the area and listen in on what was going on around me. Our server was a polite girl, most likely a college student, and Caucasian. From a server’s standpoint, she was friendly, informative, and quick with everything that we had needed. A few minutes after we had been settled in, a table was sat behind us. It was an Indian family of four; the mother, the father, and two little boys. Listening in, it was shocking to find…

It's a long day at Phoenix College, I was exhausted and needed some sleep. I was also starving because I missed breakfast and didn't have any snacks throughout the day. So I eventually decided to go eat with my girlfriend due to my hunger and my need for company. My girlfriend and I went to Cane's Raising Chicken Finger further late that evening. When we got to the restaurant we rushed inside because it was furiously burning hot outside as we wanted to avoid the heat as much as possible. The restaurant politely greeted us as we walked up to the cashier. We began to order, our order was six chicken fingers, two Texas toasts, two sauces, a side of fries and a lemonade. Without assistance, we found a booth and sat down. It took a couple of…

At my previous employment, I was a cashier and a server at a buffet style restaurant. I was a new hire and was still going through the process of being trained. A large group of people came in. The individual training me said that since there were more than ten people in the group, I could add the gratuity to the check, instead of letting them leave it on the table, if the customers agreed to this. Shortly after completing my training, another group of people came in. These individuals had reserved a room for a party. I handled the situation as I had been shown during my training by asking if gratuity was going to be added to the check. I was informed that the individual who had reserved the room would see the servers personally for their gratuity. However, the servers received no gratuity and held it against me for not doing what I was supposed to. They were not aware that I had not been told that, in a case such as this, groups coming in for parties are automatically to be charge gratuity.…
