Lewis and Clark and their Expedition
Do you ever think about how America was discovered? Well Lewis and Clark were people who explored the world, with no help and ended up finding Kansas and many more Cities, which what makes them what they are today. They are also well known in the world, from how they made the journey to all the hard obstacles they had throughout the expedition. You may also ask why is Lewis and Clark so important in the United States? One of many things on why they are important is because of the waterway to the Pacific Ocean. They also identified many species of animals and plants.
Lewis and Clark are two young men who traveled by foot from St. Louis, Missouri to Oregon coast, Fort Clatsop. Lewis was an American explorer and Clark, which led the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The expedition spanned 8,000 miles and three years. It began in May 1804 near St. Louis, Missouri. Historians called the group “Corps of Discovery”. (Huyser, Sara and Janet Pearson) They faced nearly every obstacle and hardship imaginable on their trip including weather problems, illness, animals, and starving trying to stay alive.
