9/11 True Narrative
New York, New York! I am finally done with high school and can enjoy a relaxing vacation with my best friend. “The stories of this place are so cool!” Said Octavia. “I know! Like the one about Philippe Petit, the guy who walked across the Twin Towers on a steel cable!” I told her(Abbott 10). We arrived at our hotel room at 8:30 am, and we had a tour of the city at 9. We had to start getting ready. “Our room has a balcony!” Yelled Octavia. The view was breathtaking. Every gust of wind that hit my face made me want to live in New York forever. It was 8:40, and I hadn’t even started getting ready because I was taking in the view. “Look,” I said to Octavia. We both turned around to take a glimpse at the beautiful Twin Towers when at 8:46 a plane …show more content…
When we got back, we took time to relax and follow the news. As we sat there, we had to listen to horrific facts about this event. They told us that approximately 3,000 people had lost their lives(Friedman 51) 9/11 caused 1,600 extra deaths due to traffic accidents(Kick ass facts). The news reporter broke the news that in the North Tower 1,402 people died, in the South Tower 614 people died, in Flight 11 ninety-two people died, in the United Airlines Flight sixty five people died, 345 firefighters/ paramedics and sixty police were killed(O’Keefe 18). As soon as I heard that, I broke down in …show more content…
The hijackers were led by Mohamed Atta(Friedman 46). He had a PHD in City Planning, which probably made it a little easier to train his people(Abbott 18). The name of the terrorist group that Mohamed led, and the ones who attacked was al-Queda(Friedman 44).
They started talking about how there had been many failed terrorist attack attempts(Friedman 43). The government paid on average of 1.8 million dollars to the families of 9/11 victims(Kick ass facts). The news channel went on to say that the only off duty officer who died that day was filling out his retirement papers when the attack started(Kick ass facts). Something that stuck out to me in the report was that a Muslim community collected 11,170 pints of blood for injured people(Kick ass facts).
Finally, Bush made a speech. He said that he was sorry that he couldn’t do anything earlier, and he had to watch the news channels on 9/11 in an empty classroom(O’Keefe 7). He said that this was the hardest thing that he has ever had to do, especially when he had only been President for eight months(O’Keefe 15). He ended his speech with, “9/11 was the deadliest terrorist attack the U. S has ever faced in history(Friedman

The next person that I interviewed my mom, who is one generation older than me. She can remember what took place that day much more clearly than I. “I had just taken you to school. I came home to turn on the news and as soon as I did, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.” I believe that is how it was for most people seeing what was taking place in New York, stunned in amazement that something so awful, so horrifying could be happening in our amazing country. “I do believe 9/11 is the worst thing that has taken place in American history. So many innocent people died, while their families had to suffer,” said my grandpa.…

Many people have some understanding as to why it happened, but no matter how much we absorb, more questions arise in our consciousness. What made those terrorists take countless innocent lives while taking their own lives in the process of their heinous act? After 9/11, Americans were shocked that terrorists could hijack planes and destroy buildings and be responsible for the incredible loss of life. Needless to say, the 9/11 hijackers started out as unexceptional men, and the frightening thing about this is that there are more people just like them. Though it may be difficult to try and put a human countenance on these atrocious men, it is necessary in order to comprehend and combat the rising threat and influence of terrorism.…

Cheney begins by stating that the attacks of September 11th were by far the worst attacks on America but were certainly not the first. He lists several terrorist attacks that occurred on and off American soil that resulted in the deaths American citizens and military personnel (Cheney). Among them, he mentions one of the most infamous tragedies in American history by saying, “We had just been hit by a foreign enemy—leaving 3000 Americans dead, more than we lost at Pearl Harbor” (Cheney). Cheney is implying that enhanced interrogation was the necessary response to the 9/11 attacks, just as America’s commitment to World War II after Pearl Harbor. Throughout the rest of the article, Chaney continues to deliver numerous facts, each one expanding his argument. However, Cheney’s greatest argument is found in the emotion that he evokes from the…

The science in the 9/11 attack is very weak, as there are many variables and possible explanations for what may have happened during the event. Since there isn’t solid evidence, paranoid people used this open end to come up with superstitions of what happened on the day of the hijacks. People “Say video footage of the buildings falling points to [controlled] demolition due to the way the towers bend before collapsing.” (The Guardian) There was even proof of the presence of chemical residue, which suggests that explosives could have possibly been used. However, the Guardian is a British national newspaper. Such sources cannot be trusted because they are not peer edited and can potentially boast biased content. The media is known for manipulating viewpoints for situations, so obviously such a week source of information shouldn’t be trusted with obtaining factual…

What if everything one was supposed to believe was wrong? What if the people who are supposed to protect citizens from danger, do not? What if 9/11, the most tragic day in American history, was caused by the people we are supposed to respect and we are supposed and to believe, our government? Could our government have masterminded this horrific crime? Actually, I believe they did. In August 1997, on the front cover of FEMA’s, The Federal Emergency Management Agency, Emergency Response to Terrorism Manual it shows the World Trade Center towers in the cross hairs, sights used for aiming a gun or missile for accuracy, and then again in June 2000, the Department of Justice released a world terrorism handbook featuring the twin towers also in the cross hairs on the front cover (Loose Change 2nd Edition). I believe that the government has had this planned or contemplated this action since August of 1997.…

We surely all have some knowledge of what happened on September 11, 2001, but do any of us recall any memories of the day? I had just turned 2 a week before the terrorist attacks on the twin towers. Yet, I vividly remember some of the details of what happened that day. Around 7:30 in the morning, I had been dropped off at daycare, as my mom worked at the grade school and my dad worked construction. My babysitter had liked to watch the news while we ate breakfast. All too quickly, it became evident, even for a two year old, that something bad was happening. A big shiny plane that looked all too innocent through young eyes, hit one of the tallest buildings in the country. Unable to comprehend what was fully taking place, my eyes could only focus of the colors; the red and orange flames, the black smoke and the debris falling. The babysitter’s house was left in an eerie silence.…

September 11, 2001 (Also known as 9/11) is more traumatic than any other event in American history because unlike events like the civil war or the world wars, it was totally unexpected. While the government did know that al-Qaeda held a serious hatred towards America, no one could 've guessed that such a large scale attack would 've been carried out against innocent civilians. On September 11, 2001, 8:45 a.m., an American Airlines Boeing 767 with over 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashed into the northern tower of the World Trade Center in the city of New York (History). 18 minutes after the first tower was hit, a…
