The sparkling stars in the night’s sky were overtaken by large grey clouds, specks of water falling at first before turning into a storm. Blue and red lights illuminated the streets as the police made their way to Ronald Drumpell’s manor. The sirens had awoken every nearby tenants, which irritated them as their precious sleep was ruined due to unknown reasons. The terrified new widow and her child were outside being consoled with therapists while the police filed into the gates. The police force bashed down the golden door and entered the house, crouching low and checking each of the rooms. They had their guard up, they had to be cautious as the murderer was still present in the house.

Before leaving, he delicately placed his tanned hat on and his beige coat on. The first thing he decided to do was to go meet the defendant.

As he arrived at the scene, a few officers guide him to the cell where he was going to meet the accused murderer. The prison was heavily guarded, the ceiling had more than a dozen cameras, fortified by towering steel fencing. “You only have 10 minutes to talk to them,” stated the police officer “and then you’re out.” Rex nodded, and the police officer then opened the giant metal door which stood at the entrance.

When seeing the accused murder, he was first in disbelief. What stood in front of him was a petite girl, with large blue eyes and long, black messy hair which fell down to her knees. “What do you want?” Came out of the little girl’s mouth. ”
“I am here to ask some questions.” He stated sternly.

After a short chat, he had to leave and make his way to the court, which was pronouncing the rules. “Both sides of the court will only have a week to gather evidence! Whoever fails to have solid evidence will lose the case! Now go,” screeched the judge, “find

Though, there’s more than one witness,” he whispered before laughing and walking off. Rex snickered, before heading home.
Throughout the week, Rex was allowed to take Abby, the accused murderer out to check the mansion for any evidence. This was their last chance. “We’ve found nothing! It’s useless, I’m going to be executed for doing something I’ve never done!” Abby whimpered, rushing back and forth trying to looking for clues. Rex stood in the hallway where the murderer escaped. “This is the hallway where the murderer disappeared, they said the murderer vanished as if they were a ghost.”
Abby looked over, her eyes widened as she quickly walked towards the window. Her plain blue dress dragged itself on the floor following her, “Oh, I thought I saw something that could serve as evidence, I guess we should give up,” she sighed.
“I guess we should,” Rex paused “I’m sorry for not being able to help you.”
“I-It’s fine.” She stuttered, before leaving the room

Honorable Kathryn Nelson began the morning addressing the attorneys. ASA Bodek informed the judge that he had seen the defendant driving the previous day knowing that one of the charges were driving without a valid driver license. He wanted to ensure that his observation was on record. The judge then asked the defense attorneys if they had anything that they needed to address, which they responded no. Judge Nelson delayed the trial for approximately 20 minutes so the bailiff could go and locate a hearing device for Mr. Burke since he was hearing impaired. Once that was taken care of, the jury was brought into the courtroom. Judge Nelson greeted the jury and told them that opening statements would take place. Facing the Judge, the prosecution sat to the right and the defense sat to the left. Against the right wall of the courtroom is where the jury sat. Witnesses for the prosecution sat behind the ASA and witnesses or friends and family for the defense sat behind the defense attorneys.…

Virtually everyone else believed that he was guilty. Throughout the fall and winter of 1986, his case had been splashed across the front pages of…
