At the present time, merit pay continues to be relevant in America. With school district budgets decreasing across the nation, an excess of fiscal difficulties is undoubtedly negatively having a great impact on schools across the nation (Poston, 2011). For this reason, these negative impacts are causing school administrators to be less creative in its ability to attract and retain high-quality teachers. For example, the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) (n.d.) share that Russell Hobby, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT), expressed that head teachers’ recruitment strategies across the country are becoming increasingly difficult to recruit teachers because teachers' salaries are rapidly becoming…

Not only will I be able to get a scholarship, $9,000, but I also get instate tuition because I live in Arizona. Therefore instead of paying an extra $10,000 for tuition, I will only have to pay about $11,278. With the extra money I save I can put it towards bills and my savings for graduate school. Having this extra money will allow me to starting paying my own bills and tuition, and will give me a sense of being an adult. I will also be able to find a job easily; there are multiple cities in Arizona. If I cannot find one in Tempe, I can always look in Phoenix or Chandler or Scottsdale. If I were to go to another college, for instant the University of Arizona, I would have a very slim chance of finding an internship because it is not very populated outside of the university and the competition to find job would increase significantly. Then in cases of emergency I can be home within in twenty minutes, unlike my sister, Tiffany. If there was an emergency it would take Tiffany at least two hours to drive home from U of A. This means I will be able to make home in time for parties, events, and emergencies. It will also allow me to visit you more often. Instead of just seeing me on holidays or vacations, I can come home more…

It gives you extra money and who doesn't love that. You can pay off your debt so when you graduate you have nothing to pay back when you're ready to start your career. You will also have a list of reference at your disposal, for example I will have over a dozen nurses that would give me an outstanding reference. You will build up job experience, so you know what to do in the career field of your choice. You will also have a jump on people that are fresh out of school with no exp. This experience will put you ahead of your peers and the people you are competing with for the job. Jobs after college will be easier to get, for example if I wanted to get a job at HRMC they would most likely hire me before others because of my experience and because I’ve worked there and know how things are run and from working their they would pay for or help pay for my school work. In the end working while in college is one of the best things you could do for your future. I can’t emphasize that enough. Even if it’s only a few days out of the month or on weekends. Don’t be lazy and embrace your future and take…

An article published in the At Issue anthology What Rights Should Illegal Immigrants Have? tells of undocumented students who have entered the Unites States, graduate, but have no chance to work because of their illegal status. A chance at citizenship is a chance at avoiding poverty. Although some people do not see the issue, they see the millions of legal students that enter college each year, and watch as they receive the chance to achieve their goals. In the end, someone will receive this chance, but they may not take hold of the opportunity. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, statistics show that about 10.2 million U.S. citizens under the age of 35 had not completed college, but just as many illegal immigrants graduate high…
