5 Paragraph Rhetorical Model

When I was in the sixth grade, I learned about the process of writing 5-paragraph essays and their format in my reading class with Mr. Chang. He taught me all I needed to know, and made my life much more difficult as a sixth grader because now I actually had a due date, I had to follow the format or else, I’d get a lower grade which was frustrating, but it is now worth it because I have become a better writing, so thank you Mr. Chang. Mr. Chang, my reading teacher, introduced us to 5-paragraph essays, we started this process after reading The Bridge to Terabithia, sad novel by the way. I enjoyed reading the book because I was fascinated with the events that made the book what it was, as far as I know, the book has now been banned because of the references it makes to things like witchcraft and atheism as well as using a lot of profanity, but as a matured child you tend to overlook that.
The 5-Paragraph essay is an excellent structure to consider “the basics”. One introduces, discusses, and then wraps it up!” (Pyle 14). This model gives students an idea on how to organize ideas into well-written paragraphs because it’s easy to follow, the better an individual gets at the basics, the better writers they become. The 5-paragraph essay structure has made it easier to get my ideas in order and give readers an idea of where I stand on an issue which is very essential when it comes to writing.
