During the story, Lauren is in a classroom where she had arrived late and Jerry and his group are bullying her; Lauren dislikes them because “Most of them were the boys who sat at the back of the bus, boys who looked thirty years old because they already had facial hair.” and she knew that they were “the type who blatantly broke rules which always made her uneasy.” both stated in paragraph 1. At the beginning of the story she gets bullied by Jerry. For example, he says “Look! Her feet don’t even touch the ground!” because he is making fun of Lauren for being short, which makes her feel “humiliated enough to turn red and have to blink back embarrassed tears. “humiliated enough to turn red and have to blink back embarrassed tears.” both said in paragraph 2. …show more content…
After that, while Lauren had been trying to use a saw but couldn’t reach it, Jerry came and picked her up which made her feel embarrassed; she ran to the counselor to get her schedule changed but the counselor told her “Well, most electives are full. That’s how you ended up in that class. Why don’t you tell me what’s going on?” Lauren explained all that Jerry had been doing to her and the Counselor told her “It’s important that you stand your ground,” and also “Sometimes bullies have been bullied themselves, and they don’t know what it means to be told no because they’ve never learned to say no.” (both stated in paragraph 17) which made Lauren realize that the next day she could stand up to
