5.3 Implementation Of Job Productivity Measurement
5.3 Implementation of Job Productivity Measurement as per ASTM standards:

In L&T, for the improvement of productivity is to establish a standardized productivit y measurement tool which will ensure common measurement techniques across all sites. It should also ensure measurement of all left over items of Civil works as well as Electrical activities. Only items that are measured can be reviewed and improved.
ASTM standard practice for Job Productivity Measurement (ASTM E2691 – 11) also known as JPM measures both construction product differential on an ongoing and periodic basis and average productivity over the life of the construction project.
5.3.1 Steps for Implementing JPM in Project sites:

The first step in the proper implementation of JPM is the creation of Work Break down schedule. A Work break down schedule in project is a deliverable oriented decomposition of a project into smaller components. It defines and groups a projects discrete work elements in a way that helps organize and define the work scope of the project. A clear breakdown of work schedule will help in better measurement and proper review. A typical work break down of few activities has been used for the further explanation.

The baseline labor hours are to be assigned to the Lowest level task of the WBS and thereby establishing BLHPTASK for each task. The Budgeted labor hours could be done based on companies past experience/practice or using an industrial standard.
BLHP for the cost code could be arrived by summating the BLHP of the tasks and the summation of the BLHP of Cost code will provide the BLHP of the Job.
