4. Define values and discuss the factors that can influence values.
Values are enduring beliefs and are strongly influenced by cultures, societies, and organizations. Instrumental values reflect the means to achieving goals; terminal values represent the goals to be acheived. Several factors influence an individual's values. There are primary diversity factors like age, gender, physical attributes, race and ethnicity. There are also secondary diversity factors like career stage, marital status, educational background, religious belief and work experience.
