3 Idiots Movie Reflection
“3 Idiots” Reflection
There were lots of interesting scenes, but this movie also has its appalling moments that made me think twice. I’m talking about the scene where the director told Joy Lobo’s dad that Joy won’t graduate that year, saying that he has violated all the deadlines in making his “unrealistic” and “nonsense” helicopter which triggered Joy to commit suicide. The director gave him a mental pressure which he has been enduring for years. This is very alarming. I believe that teachers are the supposed to give options that will help the students take the right path, not to take away those options and give them the idea to take the wrong one. The Joy Lobo incident lead Rancho in blaming the director for giving Joy a mental pressure. Due to this accusation, Rancho was called to the director’s office. The director was furious because he insists that Joy’s suicide is not his fault. In Rancho’s defense, he was not blaming the director but the system of education in India. Their discussion resulted to an argument about how the teachers in their university teach only to get good grades, not to learn engineering. So the director brought him to the classroom and announced that Rancho will demonstrate how to teach engineering. So Rancho wrote Farhanitrate Prerajulisation on the board and asked everyone to find its meaning within 30 seconds, saying that he wanted to see who comes first. After 30 seconds, no one got its meaning. He said even if we got into a frantic race, even if we got first before anyone, our knowledge will not increase with just by that. It will only just give us pressure. This scene is my favorite because not only that he was funny, creating a non-existing word based from his friends’ names but he was also a witty man, full of words that saved everyone from darkness.

Another striking scene that piqued my interest was the scene where Mona, Pia’s sister was giving birth to her baby in the middle of the stormy weather. The storm was so strong

It shows how the teachers interact with students, and how students react with the teachers. In that meager setting at Oakcity High School with Mr. Bartlett, he doesn’t cater to students needs. He does things in a strict basic formatted setting because “...on any job they get outside of school, there’s going to be a certain formats they must follow to be successful on the job. McDonald’s, there’s a certain way of frying French fries. There’s a certain was of customer service. They have to learn that format”.(pg. 661) He feels as though his students are unable to comprehend those in depth discussions. He teaches basic ideals and principals, then tests students on them. He also feels that all of his students are “somewhat on the same level”(pg. 661). His basic teaching format of “read a section, complete the section handout, take section quiz, repeat daily for five days, take chapter test Friday”(pg. 662) is completely unacceptable and demoralizes students. One student, Monique says “I want to go to college, but... if this is boring here I’m going to be bored in college”. This apathy towards students highly affects them…

The first thing I thought of was that every school board should watch this film. The concept that we are preparing our kids to compete in a global world market rather than at a local level on the football field is one we should all adopt. Many people in the USA seem to have tunnel vision when it comes to educating children. The idea of what a person is going to do after they graduate seems less important than the momentary glory of a two foot trophy for being the best on the junior high basketball court.…

The limbic system and prefrontal cortex play an extensive role in human behavior. The limbic system is a set of structures within the brain that controls human emotions and memories; intensifying during puberty. On the other hand, the prefrontal cortex is responsible for regulating behavior and thought analysis. This is developed later than the limbic system which has already begun developing during puberty as stated earlier. Due to the differences in developmental time, the extremities such as, controlling our temper when we feel angry, are enhanced.…

In the dangerous minds movie it is basically showing the chaotic atmosphere of the school where the principle doesn’t care about the student and how they act, nothing is in order in the school but they lie to the teachers that students are passionate and challenging. They employ uncertified teachers because they just want to get more money over their classes they don’t care about that they might do harm to students and their families because usually when families sign their children up in a school they trust the school’s principle, staff and teachers, but some schools just take advantage of this trust. But I believe some teachers are angels sent from heaven they help their students settle down and improve their studies and make a bright future for them. The teacher in the movie faces…

Blue made sure to see that the students were receiving positive feedback. When each of the students entered the room, they retrieved their binders and all sat down quietly. Each of the students were very respectful to each other in that whenever someone raised their hand to speak, they were the only ones who spoke. There was no character development program or a posted set of rules displayed in her classroom. In her classroom she did the majority of the talking while the students listened and answered her questions. In the high school classroom, there was quite a bit of talking and disruption among the students in the beginning. There were many students who were up and walking around while he was discussing the homework. There was no character development in the classroom. Mr. G didn’t seem tell really be listening to his students, one student had to repeat his question three times. Each teacher provided a way to show respect and understanding to their students, and then the other showed a class room that didn’t have much respect for each…

The first major argument the film seems to make is that our current education system needs to encourage a more motivating teaching style. Pamela Harris and Ralph Johnson state, “The traditional teaching approaches are generally teacher-directed and follow cookbook steps of activities and demonstrations. This approach may not provide students with valuable skills or even with a body of knowledge that lasts much beyond the end of the term” (par 2). As an education major, you are being taught how to teach in college. But when you get in front of your actual class, you…

In The Illusionist directed by Neil Burger, there are four concepts, perception, reality, illusion, and deception. People have different perceptions about Eisenheim’s magician shows. Eisenheim does compelling illusions that lead people to wonder if he has supernatural powers or it’s just tricks. The film tells an extended story about Eisenheim and Sophie and there is a plot twist at the end, this is when the theme is revealed. Sophie and Eisenheim plan out a scheme, and pretend that the Emperor killed Sophie. They planted everything out and in the end, it all ended up being an illusion. While everyone thought the murder and the tricks were real, it was just an illusion. Although Eisenheim deceives everyone, it was all out…

Joan Didion utilizes stylistic elements such as imagery, diction, and detail throughout each of the three parts of the passage in order to convey her fear and awe of the horrendous and aberrant Santa Ana winds, simultaneously revealing the primal and often times violent ways man reacts to external stimuli and correcting the mistaken belief that he is not subject to the whims of nature.…

Although I don’t agree with these types of schools and feel that they are wasting student’s money, there were three good things that I took out of this film. The first would be since there are no fraternities for the privileged students to drink their way through school, and no big athletics department, The focus is on teaching. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger embraced the notion of student’s electronic books for classes in order to cut down on…

First I just want to say that if I didn't have to watch this movie for class, then it wouldn't normally appeal for me to watch it. I didn't have anything against this movie; I just personally do not like watching movies that have a negative vibe like it did at the end of this movie. I know that this movie was supposed to be based on the true story of Teena Brandon, however, after watching this movie, I looked up the true story and it turned out that the movie was really faithful to the actual real life events that occurred.…

A universal constant about being a patient is vulnerability and loss of control. In the movie Wit, starring Emma Thompson, you get to see all these and more. You get to see another side of the medical profession that shows blatant disregard for medical humanities, the similarities between intellects and the simple art of caring by a nurse who is not an intellect. Wit is the story of an intellectual, Vivian Bearing being diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer, the treatment and how she is stripped of her personal and professional status, in the name of being a patient.…
