Like in the story Lear had dreams of building jets but then saw a problem so he put is own life one the line to save others and then fixed the problem knowing that it would have a negative impact on his business. This is a sign of good character on his part. Maxwell says to improve on character you must spend some time looking at major areas of your life and search for the cracks in them, look for patterns in those cracks to help fix those issues. To fix character you must be willing to face your flaws, apologize, and deal with consequences of your actions. Once you do this you can now start rebuilding a new future and avoid these same mistakes. Real character is being bigger on the inside. Quality two is Charisma. Charisma is the ability to draw people to you and can be developed over time by enjoying life and being that person people like to be around. Expect the best of people and help to reveal their riches. Give people hope for that is the greatest of all possessions. Share you, wisdom, resources, and life journeys. Maxwell says to improve charisma you have to change your focus from yourself to others. Play the impression game and make someone else the focus. Share your resources with others to help them grow as a person. Charisma is to focus on others not you. Quality three is Commitment. Commitment starts in the heart; heart is what separates the good from the great. The only real measure of commitment is action. "Nothing is easier than saying words. If taking the first step in a commitment is a problem try making it public this might help you be more committed. If you’re not fully committed there will be somebody one day you will have to face that will have and advantage because they are more committed. Quality four is Communication. Communication is not just what you say but also how you say it. If you want to connect with people you need to simplify your message. To become a better communicator, become audience oriented.
