Ai: Imagine you are a newly appointed supervisor/manager within your service. You need to update your staff handbook to reflect current employment law. Identify three different sources of information you could use to enable you to do this.

Three sourses i could you to update the staff handbook using current law include, contacting local social services and councils as well as contacting cqc, this could be done by accessing there website and other soursec across the internet

Task B Your work role
For this task you will need the following:
• A copy of your contract of employment or employment agreement. If you don’t have a written contract of employment eg if you are employed as a personal assistant, discuss your terms and conditions with your employer and make notes to help you to complete the task;
• A recent payslip or pay statement;
• Access to your workplace policies and procedures or notes from a discussion with your employer if you are employed as a personal assistant
Bi Describe the terms and conditions of your employment as set out in your contract of employment or employment agreement.
JOB TITLE AND PLACE OF WORK-undertake such duties and responsibilities as maybe determined by the company.Work within the community at clients private addresses.Accompany service users to the mainland or abroad for appoinmtnets,visits and holidays.NO smoking on the premisis and any other premises that may be astablished in the future.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD-the first 6 months of employment will be a probationary period, during which time your performance and conduct will be monitored and aprased. The probationary period may be extended at the companys discrection by up to 3 months and this is without predudice to the companys right to terminate your employment befor or on the expiry of your probationary period,if you are found for any reason what so ever to be incapable of carrying out, or otherwise unsutible for your job.At the end of the probationary period, your employment will be reviewed within a reasonably time of its expiry and your probationary period will not be deemed to have been completed untill the company has carried out and formally confirmed the position in writting to you.
NOTICE-Your employment is not for a fixed term and there is no antisipated duration for your employment but it may be terminated by notice.During any probationary period,your employment may be extended either by you giving the comany or the company giving you one weeks written notice.The company will not be obliged to provide you with work at any time after notice of termination shall have been given by either party and the company,in its apsalute discretion, pay your salry entitlement in lieu of all or any part of the unexpired period of notice.Any such payment will consist of basic salary as of the date of termination and for the avoidence of dought,the payment in lieu of notice shall not include any eliment relating to any bonus or commision payments that may have otherwise been due.If you leave without giving the proper period of notice or leave during your notice period without permission,in addition to not being paid for any unworked period of notice the company shall also be entitled as a result of your agreement to the terms of this contract to deduct up to a days pay for each day not worked during the noitice period.
HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME-the companies normal hours of work are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 365 days of the year you will work your contracted hours across this time on a rota basis if you regularly work additional hours over your contract you will be expected to do this unless you give 4 weeks notice of your intention to no longer do these hours.you may be required to work such additonal hours in access of your normal hours of work as are resonably neccisary for the proper performance of your duties and to meet the needs of the companys buisness.Any overtime worked by you at the compnay request will be at your normal hourly rate.The company reserves the right at its descretion to vary overtime rates. The company reserveds the right to require you to work differnt hours of work according to the hours of the buisness, wether on a temporary or perminent basis.This may involve shorter or longer hours of work, or working on differnt days of the week or at differnt times of the day in accordance with the operational requirments.It is a condition of your employment that you agree to work differnt hours if requested to do so by the comany.
SALARY-Your salary will be £7.25 ph payable monthy in arrears on or befor the last friday of each month. payment will be made direct credit transfer to a bank or building society account nominated to you.Intirely at the companys discretion,your salary will be reviewed annulay in april.However,a salary review will not necessiaily result in a salry increase.there will be no review of your salary after notice has been given by either party to terminate your employment.Hourerly rate are set against nvqs.When a staff member obtains an nvq or the next level of nvq when in there hourly rate will be agusted on the sate of the certificate issue.IN addition to your remuneration,you will be reenbursed all resonable expenses,properly,wholly and exclusivly encured by you and authorised by your line manager, in the discharge under this contract upon production of recepts or other evidence as the comapany may resonably require
Bii Describe the information which needs to be shown on your pay slip/statement.
The information which needs to show on your paysip include, my name, the date, NI number, Tax code,Company name, Wage and hours worked
Biii Identify two changes to personal information which you must report to your employer.
Change of address and change of name.
Biv Describe the procedure to follow if you wanted to raise a grievance at work. You may describe this in writing or produce a flow chart or diagram.
I would notify my line manager in writting of the details of the grievence.To which a meeting should be arranged to discuss the grievence with the appropriate parties , the main purpose behind the meeting will be to determine the facts,and to resolve the issue.
Bv Explain the agreed ways of working with your employer in relation to the following areas:
1. Data protection All information is to be kept confidential
2. Grievance Inform managments or safeguarding
3. Conflict management inform safeguarding
4. Anti-discriminatory practice to treat clients and other collegues with respect regardless of their sex,disability,race, religion or ethnic background
5. Health & safety To abide by the halth and safety regulations within the workplace
6. Confidentiality Do not divolge information about cliets or collegues
7. Whistle blowingThe right to express any concerns regarding the welfare and wellbeing of clients and other staff
Bvi Explain how your role contributes to the overall delivery of the service provided.
By following company policy and procedure i am ensuring all needs of the clients are being met as well as representing the company .
Bvii Explain how you could influence the quality of the service provided by;
a) Following best practice within your work role;Following care plans and ensuring the service users needs are being met, and that it is what they want .
b) Not carrying out the requirements of your role.It could put the service users at risk of harm, as well as possibly harming yourself and jepordise your job.
Bviii Describe how your own work must be influenced by National factors such as Codes of Practice, National Occupational Standards, Legislation and Government Initiatives.
By ensuring that you are familier with all the main legislation
Bix a) Identify two different representative bodies which influence your area of work.Social services and CQC
b) Describe the role of the two representative bodies you have identified.Social services identify the need of the service users and protect them .CQC have guidlines of care that need to be upheld
Task C Career Pathway
Create a career pathway plan for yourself, indicating what opportunities are open to you as you progress in your chosen career. Indicate what you will need to learn or any qualifications you might need to gain in order to achieve your goals. Identify sources of information to help you achieve your goals.

Prepare a presentation or report on an issue or area of public concern related to the care profession.
Your presentation or report should include:

• An outline of the different points of view regarding the issue or area of public concern raised
• A description of how the issue or area of public concern has affected service provision and methods of working
• A description of how public opinion is affected by issues and areas of concern in either the health, social care or children’s and young people's sectors
