The resolution of this case analysis is to pinpoint the essential problems that are causing the high turnover rate at Heritage Place. The statistics have shown that within the past year, at least seventeen employees have left Heritage Place in search of other jobs. The high turnover rate has become very costly for this small business and has therefore brought about a need for change. Many reasons have been given for the need for change: low pay rates, no pay raises, lack of health, dental, and vision insurance, no vacation or sick pay, and the mistreatment/lack of respect and appreciation for the employees by management. It is the purpose of this analysis to present ways/ideas that will bring forth a reduction in the employee turnover rate and hence lower costs for the facility. 1. There are several problems within the company with regards to the turnover of staff for the role of Clerical Administrative Support. This seems to be a problem that has arisen through the recruitment processes of the company. One issue being that the person responsible for the recruitment of staff for the post is that they did not have the adequate time to follow appropriate recruitment process and the first candidate interviewed was employed. This issue may be due to the fact that it was not discussed with fellow colleagues on what requirements were needed for potential employees to possess in order to fill the position. Another issue is that the position vacancy was passed onto an employment recruitment agency. This is not a suitable recruitment method for the company to use as the agency does not have full knowledge of the job requirements. A clear job description needs to be drawn up so that the candidates as well as the interviewer know what is expected of them. Person specifications can then be drawn up from the job description so that the candidate is aware of the main job role and tasks as well as the knowledge and skills required in order to fill the position. This will also help the interviewer with the interview process. Methods that can be used to aid the interviewer in selecting the right candidate for the position are biodata, selection interview, rating, psychological testing, and organisational data.…

Employee turnover is sometimes the most expensive part of a business. It is the process of an employee leaving and then having to fill that spot on the workforce. The problem with turnover is that with each new person a corporation or small business hires, that small business or corporation is spending sometimes thousands of dollars, not to mention countless hours, be able to hire, train and get the employee used to working within the ranks of your business. This is time and money no small business or other company has to waste, but unfortunately some turnover rates are as high as 95 percent, meaning that only 5 percent of employees have been within the company for a long period.…

Unilever is the company in which this assignment is going to be based on. I chose this company because I’ve been following its growth and development in Portugal for the last few years. This because a member of my family has been working in this company for the last three years and that triggered my interest in such a company. It amazed me how big the company is and how come hadn’t I heard about it before, I actually found out that most of the food (including margarine, beverages, ice creams, etc.) and cleaning products I had at home had that unique “U” printed in the back of the pack.…
