Thirteen Reasons Why
13 reasons why is a story about Hannah Baker, a high school student who committed suicide because of bullying, a very serious problem with schools today that needs to be stopped. No one saw it coming, no one expected it. before she committed suicide, Hannah left behind thirteen recorded messages that explained the thirteen reasons why she killed herself; the reasons to why she was driven over the edge. Each of these messages were copied to tape, each side of the tape had one of the characters on it. justin, alex, jessica, tyler, cortney, marcus, zack,Ryan, clay, jenny, brice, and Mr.Porter are all the people that were on the taps, and are all the people who caused Hannah to kill herself. i think justin might have been the one to effect hannah the most. He was her first kiss. in a way he started everything. without justin the rumors would have never spread, or maybe it was marcus who impacted Hannah’s life the most. in the book it says, “and i couldn’t look away as your fingertips caressed my knee… and started moving up”. (Page 142). This is what Hannah said as marcus moved his hand up her leg. he was the first person to have ever done that. marcus touched Hannah without her permission, without any sign of her wanting him to do that to her. but then again it could have been bryce who held the best reason for hannah to kill herself. “and then just like that i let go. my shoulders went limp. my legs fell apart and i knew exactly what i was doing”. (page 264), this is what hannah says about what happened between her and bryce. however even though there were many people to blame for what hannah did to herself, it was everyone to blame. Hannah says “Not once did i give into the reputation you’d all set out for me. not once. even though sometimes it was hard. even though, sometimes, i found myself attracted to someone who only wanted to get with me because of what they’d heard. but i always said no to those people. Always! until bryce, so congratulations,

It reminded me of innocence.” (25) Hannah was talking about how when she saw the rocket ship, it reminded her of home, and everything that made her happy and peaceful. Also, it was a dream about what was happening in the park and dreaming about Justin and imagining how they will meet at the park. In The Outsiders Ponyboy recites a poem on page 77. I believe that the meaning of this poem is that not everything is meant to last. In this poem, he talks about how the dawn becomes day, leafs turn into flowers, and how Eden sank to grief. All of these examples show how things can change. The time of change changes all time, as well as the seasons and more. This poem is saying that nothing in nature is meant to be the same all the time. Plants in nature grow old and slowly wither away, as time goes on. People also can change their appearance and how they act towards specific people. They may avoid them or change their thoughts about them.…

Mean Girls, written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters, takes its viewers through high school from the perspective of Cady Heron, a young girl who never known what “high school” genuinely meant. Upon arrival, she makes friends with Janis and Damian, who were in the stereotypical “unpopular” crowd. They warn her to stay away from “The Plastics”, an exclusive clique that includes three drama-filled girls who are superficial, spiteful, and have vicious attitudes that obtain their power and fame from beauty and glamour. However, “The Plastics” ask Cady to join them. Cady, Janis, and Damian together plot against the leader of The Plastics, Regina George, the most monstrous of them all. In reality, the more time Cady spends with The Plastics, the more she starts to actually become one. The Plastics themselves show how monstrous qualities are formed in celebrity culture, while the use of Cady is the perfect example of how culture builds up celebrities to break them back down. The Plastics took Cady, someone who was naïve and candid, and turned her into something she is not through the manipulation of their own standards and rules. Celebrity culture heavily relies on qualities of manipulation. This was done through thru burn book, etc…

The most persuasive pieces in favor of the defense was that the old man wouldn’t have taken fifteen seconds to get to his front door from his bedroom. Especially because of the stroke he got the year before that caused something to his left leg. Another piece of evidence was that the woman didn’t have her glasses on when she ‘saw’ the murder being committed. While for the prosecution, the most persuasive evidence was that the boy was not able to remember the movies that he saw that night and no one recognize him where he went.…

Twelve Angry Men was created in 1957 and directed by Sidney Lumet. The is basically about a dissenting juror in a murder trial who slowly manages to convince the others that the case they're examining is not as obviously clear as it seemed in court. The defense and the prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Spanish American is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. It begins as an open and shut case of murder, but soon becomes a mini drama of each of the jurors' prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused, and each other. A critical aspect of Justice is revealed in this film. This very intense film illustrates how the American court system protects individual rights through objective law, but at the same time glorifies heroic individualism through Juror # 8, Henry Fonda. Typecast as another liberal, he is a truth-seeking hero, who doubts the obvious. Throughout the movie, he stresses the idea of "reasonable doubt", and slowly chips away at the jury, who represent an all white male society, exposing the prejudices and preconceptions that directly influence the other jurors' snap judgments. So Henry wants to talk the case out. He's not 100% sure that the guy is guilty. He isn't ready to exert the group coercive power against this boy. He needs full proof, as to why they should consider him guilty. So, after the jury files back into the room, the film shows the only shot of the defendant in the murder trial, an 18-year-old Hispanic boy who is accused of stabbing his father to death late one…
