Isopods are not insects, they are more in relation with specific marine animals like shrimp because they have a gill like structure in which they breathe with, which indicates that their behavior may differ from other small land organisms in different conditions. Isopods prefer moist conditions because it is the best way for them to breathe, especially because of the gill like structure they consist of. It can be determined that the generic habitat of these isopods could be under rocks or leaves. The behavior of 10 isopods are going to be observed and recorded in the span of ten minutes. The isopods were placed in a choice chamber, with one side contaminated with regular water, and the other contaminated with salt water, and evenly placed into each chamber. Throughout the ten minutes, observations provided that the …show more content…
Also, record the amount of isopods in each chamber every 30 seconds for 10 minutes.
After the 10 minutes have completed, calculate the average amount of isopods in each chamber with the recorded results.
Ethology is the study of animal behavior. That is what is being observed on the 10 isopods, how they react to different conditions and which they prefer. The hypothesis is proven correct. The isopods prefered the condition with water, because it is much similar to their natural habitat. The isopods used their antennas to identify the most profitable environment, which is how they found the water condition more attracting. To have a more precise result, the investigation must include more than 10 isopods and maybe even more time so that the results could determine the isopods exact behavior.
Uncertainties that were in the observation is that a particular isopod crawl up the chamber and almost escaped, other than that the investigation went as planned. But in this investigation, numerous uncertainties had the potential to provoke

    This lab’s purpose is to help differentiate between kinesis and taxis movements of pill bugs (Armadillidiidae). The experiment is designed to be interpreted in the real world to accurately help locate populations of pill bugs. A choice chamber was filled with four different mediums in four different locations to test the pill bugs’ preference of mediums. The middle or fifth chamber of the choice chamber was not filled with any medium so it could serve as the control group of the experiment.
