I feel each one has its place. It depends upon what the audience is expecting. Is it to be lots of research, if so then you need to have done your research to be sure it is all correct. If you are doing a video conference, you need to make sure both (or all) parties have the correct software and bandwidth to be able to view and understand the meeting without possible buffering or loss of information. You have to present in the manner that the projected audience will benefit from.

3. What is the difference between hearing and listening? What are some strategies you could employ to improve your listening skills? What does it mean to listen critically?
We all hear, but many times we do not listen. There is critical thinking, there is also critical listening. Not only do we need to hear what is said but we have to understand it. Taking notes can help, but if you concentrate on note taking you can miss the big picture and in the end not understand everything. As a mother I deal with this daily, my boys say they listen but then do not really hear what I am saying as they are distracted. I tend to be a note taker, so in a presentation it is best for me to have handouts. As I follow I can highlight or jot notes next to the main topics making it easier to recall.
