The Crocker is one of the main sources in the Sacramento area for the study and appreciation of fine art. The Museum offers art exhibitions, programs and events to showcase its collections of Californian, European, Asian, African and Oceanic artworks and international ceramics. The Crocker Art Museum offers many outreach programs in the Sacramento community including internships, volunteer opportunities, student and community exhibitions and scholarship art projects (Crocker). In the past Sacramento State and the Crocker Art Museum came together for an evening showcasing called, “U-Nite For Art.” Most attendants were Sacramento Students where they enjoyed live music, theatre performances, photography, design, art, film, and digital media presentations (Sacramento). Today, I propose a more permanent partnership between Sacramento State and The Crocker Art Museum.…
The VISION for this event was made when local artist GunMarie Rosqvist visited Skyline Memorial and suggested that we should showcase the work of local artists inside the funeral home, not only for the visitors to enjoy but also as a way for the public to…

For my humanities report, I attended the Wind Ensemble concert at the Timko Barton lobby on October 8, 2015. The concert was so inspiring and refreshing for me since I love music and am currently studying music. Sitting with some many people and listening to beautiful music from a variety of genres was so restoring to the soul. Dr. John Jenkins, the director, was so motivating in every piece of music and of the program. The concert program ran smoothly as the ensemble band transitioned gradually to each different song piece. In addition the scenery added to the peaceful presence during the show. Since the concert took place in the lobby of the music hall, people saw the bright lights coming from the ceiling and they also enjoyed to majestic surrounding of the large glass windows. The Wind Ensemble concert event was a smoothing time to reflect on…
What has been deemed by many as the greatest Super Bowl to date, Super Bowl XLVI was held on February 5, 2012, hosted for the only the fifth time in what the NFL determines as a cold-weather city - Indianapolis. Not only did it break attendance records for the Super Bowl Village and NFL Experience (some of the many product extensions available to fans) with 1.1 million and 265,000 visitors respectively, but the Indianapolis Host Committee also set many precedents for future host cities to follow. Interested in understanding more, it was our objective to analyze and identify the various parties and components involved in the production of such a hallmark event. Specifically, we analyzed the NFL-owned event as a joint production by NFL Events and the Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee. We also investigated several critical components of the event including the facility, security, hospitality, city infrastructure, and community involvement. The aforementioned content is addressed in the following sections:…
I experienced the arts by attending a music performance. This performance was on September 16th at 8:00 in Jackson, MI. The music was performed by a band called Echoes of Pink Floyd, a cover band of Pink Floyd. I experienced this performance by personally attending, but I also took a video recording to watch the performance again in order to analyze the performance. The event took place at the Michigan Theatre in Jackson. The venue seemed older and was not very large, but it had comfortable seating. The band played at the center of the theater and had a light show accompanying their music. The sound was loud and the experience overall felt genuine. The light show helped set the mood by creating a fog and having flashing lights. This helped…

April 18th 2009 turned out to be a hectic day. Driving to Washington DC is rarely an easygoing occasion, however it only gets worse when you are attempting to see a recital and you are already late. After finally finding the National Gallery of Art we found a parking spot, entered the gallery, and found where the performances were being held. I had expected a sort of theater for which the concerts would be held, but in fact it was right in the middle of one of the garden atriums. The atmosphere was appropriate for the artwork around us, there were seats set up for the large groups of people who seemed to be there solely for the recitals, and other groups of people came and went as they pleased. Both recitals had a very relaxed, open, and comfortable feel. If one were to walk off and browse the artwork, the music would accompany the experience well. Many people were simply passing through, and there was a welcome feeling coming from the performers.…
On September 3, my boyfriend and I attended the 38th Chicago Jazz Festival in Millennium Park. This was my first jazz concert. My boyfriend and I headed towards the Jay Pritzker Pavilion; its stage looked like a steel version of the Sydney Opera House. As we looked for a place to sit, I noticed that the audience’s demographics consisted of Indian, Asian, some African Americans, and Caucasians. We sat near the stage in the plastic orange seats because the grass area was extremely packed. However, this was the best thing that happened to us because we could see how the musicians were so enthralled with playing their instruments.…
The building for our band stands beside the football field, the spectacle of the campus. The expansive field eclipses the tiny block home of music, yet the band room shines just as brightly for those who understand its value. The brick exterior wears a coat of dingy white paint with the words “CCHS Marching Band” painted in school colors. Behind the flat building lies a field with small lines and, often, soccer…
First is to be a present of artistic programming. The LCPA puts on more than five thousand events, performances, tours, and educational activities each year. Second is to be a national leader in arts and education and community relations. The LCPA reaches over a hundred city schools with varied education programs and events. And the third is to be the manager of the large Lincoln Center Campus, managing the events, appearance, and well being of the twelve different institutions on the property. The LCPA has a large responsibility in the arts world and has been involved in many initiatives to help expand it’s success and audiences…
On February 24th, I attended the West Michigan Concert Winds “Winner and Winds” concert. West Michigan Concert Winds is a volunteer group that performs instrumental music to the community. This ensemble contains a wide range of musical talents from all different backgrounds. Some members are college students, some teachers. There was also many current or retired band directors apart of the ensemble. They performed all different genres of music from a Sousa march to an Irish wake by A.J. Potter. There was also a scholarship acceptance performance by a local high school junior who was amazing at the clarinet.…
On Friday night, November 22th, a great concert was held again in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre of Brock University. This concert was performed by four young, energetic, and talent musicians: Vera Alekseeva play a violin, Austin Hitchcock plays a French horn, and Karin Di Bella plays piano. When I entered the theatre, my eyes were immediately caught by a beautiful piano on the stage under the bright light. Some students were taking pictures of the instruments. Before the concert start, the musicians were briefly introduced themselves and descript about the pieces they going to play. The audiences were exciting and interesting for the concert. It was a perfect opportunity to experience such a wide variety of music.…
