What Have You Done as a Leader
What Have You Done As A Leader And How Has It Affected Your Life? Leadership is an intangible asset that usually cannot be showcased through medals and plaques, as athleticism or aesthetic talent. However, it is essential for an organisation and corporation as well as small businesses to have these skills to live in the competitive world in order to be successful. What have I done as a leader? and How has it affect my life ? I am really grateful to be the elected as the head of the Living Skills Club. It has given me an opportunity to lead the club throughout the year. It has taught me to be organise with time and always planned ahead to do activities. Leading a club also taught me that planning is vital in organising weekly club meetings. Being a leader, we will have to make a very precise and fast decision because everybody in the club will look to you to make the decision. Making hasty and bad decision can cause the club to lose their members. Besides that, I am also the Team Leader of F1 in School team representing my school. Throughout the competition, we have won 3 awards during regionals for Best Verbal Presentation, Best Research and Development and Best Booth Display and we also won 1 award during the nationals that is Best Booth Display. Throughout the journey in preparation of the competition I have learned a lot of new things about public relations, team play and social networking. I realise that chemistry between team members in doing a specific project plays a vital role to ensure efficiency in the product. In the search to find sponsors to finance the team, from corporate companies and well-known philanthropist, I realise that one must have the courage to talk with confidence and facts to gain their trust to sponsor the team. In the end, we achieve to acquire money as much as $43,000 from corporate companies to finance the team throughout the competition. Being a leader has taught me, even though education is fairly important to start a

I asked myself, “what can I do to make an impact on my community?”. That is when I founded my high school’s Red Cross Club. We aimed to push the vision-mission, “to alleviate human suffering through volunteering and donations” to the student body to make a change in our community. I initially started with only three other members, however, we bolstered our ranks by over 20+ members in two weeks. Balancing 7 AP and PreAP classes, such as Biology and US History, proved to be a challenge for management of the club. Keeping up with extracurriculars was not always easy however, I always made time to supervise my club. Being a leader at times was very frustrating, but overall it was a very positive experience. While I did slave for the club, it never felt like work to me because I felt very passionate helping others. The Red Cross Club became my medium for making a positive impression on my environment. Through the cooperation of my school’s class officers and my own members, we did donations like can drives around Thanksgiving to help soften the burden of low income families in inner Houston. In addition, with collaboration with Student Council, we fundraised and donated to sponsor underprivileged children during Christmas. Being a part of this club has made a positive impact on my life to be great. My experiences at the club made me develop a strong work ethic, and useful leadership experience to be used in…

Throughout my high school career, I have been given numerous opportunities to lead other students by example, work ethic, volunteerism, and school involvement. I believe that my greatest impact as a leader in high school has been through my participation in a Service Learning Class. This class gave me the chance to help and lead others by tutoring younger students in the middle school and elementary school. As a senior, I felt responsible for providing a voice for the class in ideas and decisions to help better our school. I worked with administrators, teachers, and class members to promote healthy habits of responsibility, school pride, respect, and service.…

In 8th grade I became heavily involved in my schools STEM program who specialized in Medical Skills and partook in HOSA state competitions. All my life I had shown an intense liking for helping others therefore medicine seemed as my calling and once joining STEM my interests in the medical field grew deeper and deeper as well as my passion for leadership. So when the chance to compete in the HOSA competition came about I jumped at the chance to win an award for my school. I teamed up with 3 other girls and together we were to educate the public on careers within the medical system. We did careers from pediatrician to an aquatic vetenarian, my job was to keep creativity as well as knowledge flowing, I exhibited strong character, drive, detemanation, as well as patience during our project, these were extremely important in keeping the team focused as well as appreciated since we all contributed amazingly to the project and so it won second place! This experience taught me social skills as well as time management, it helped me become a more rounded person and strengthen my character. I was able to keep my team happy and restrained from being overbearing or bossy, which are not qualities a leader should possess. Another instance where a held a position of leadership was this year where I became the president of Alonso’s Anchor Club, where young ladies partake in various community service projects to better the world around them, the most recent event our girls took part in was the 5k Walk Against Breast Cancer with Dr. Lee right here in Tampa, Florida. With the massive help from our girls the team raised $6,000 all going towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation.…

Reflecting on the service learning that I did this semester helped me grow as a leader myself. By seeing Emily and D’Juan enjoying leading and helping students at Neumann grow has helped me in the business world that I am in. I have learned to listen to my employees more because they have a lot of great ideas that no one ever asked them to share. I have also become aware of my weaknesses and strengths. I am excellent at the mechanics of my job, but I lack some of the social interaction so I am working on it by interacting with the employees and letting them help me come up with team games to play that they will want to engage in. I have also learned to teach instead of just doing. I want my crew to grow as employees and people themselves and get the most out of their time while they are working with us. I enjoyed doing this service rather than others offered by Neumann because it related to me personally and I would love to continue to volunteer for the times when the Elwyn school students come over to Neumann to interact with Neumann students. This was my first…

Part of leadership is the ability to make a difference under difficult circumstances. But, what is a leader? A leader is a person or thing that holds a dominant or superior position within its field, and is able to exercise a high degree of control or influence over others. My experiences and accomplishments have taught me how to become a leader and allowed me to expand and sharpen my skills. To become a leader, I believe one has to be flexible, understanding, do what is best for the club and others despite external opposition, and have the ability to follow through on decisions with unfaltering determination. Operation Smile Club and the off-campus experiences have allowed me to fulfill this belief, and I look forward to playing a proactive role in college and in the years to…
