    Crayfish are interesting animals to study. Through invertebrate research, experimentation, and observation, there has been much to learn about with these animals. There is much to know about these creatures, including their classification in the "animal kingdom." Anatomy as well as how the crayfish reproduce is an important aspect of these organisms. Perhaps the most important part of the crayfish is there ecology. Studying ecology alone can give substantial information on the life of the animal (or in this case crayfish). Experience with the crayfish had become an increasingly important factor in getting to know more about the crayfish. Observations of their behavior have brought us many first hand interpretations of how these critters eat, wander, defend, escape, live, etc. Experimentation on behavior has given us quantitative data on certain aspects of the crayfish after we hypothesized about the outcomes.     Like all species in the family Diodontidae, Long-spined Porcupinefish (Diodon holocanthus) can inflate themselves by swallowing water (or air). As in other species in the genus Diodon, this swelling causes the erection of the long movable spines covering the body. The Long-spined Porcupinefish is a robust fish with rounded dorsal and anal fins. Spines on the forehead of the Long-spined Porcupinefish are slightly shorter to much longer than are those immediately behind the pectoral fin base. Long-spined Porcupinefish have a broad dark bar through the eyes and, usually, four dark saddles on the back. The rest of the body is brownish yellow, paler below, with dark brown spots of moderate size (no spots on the fins beyond their bases). These spots are larger than the diameter of the spines. No spines are wholly on the caudal peduncle. Pelagic juveniles are around 6 to 9 cm. Maximum adult standard length (i.e., excluding tail) is around 30 cm, with a maximum total length of around 45 to 50 cm. In North American waters, the similar Spotted Porcupinefish (Diodon hystrix) is larger (to 91 cm), lacks the dark bars on the back and through the eyes, is covered with small dark spots that are around the same diameter as the spines, has the longest spines posterior to the pectoral fins, and has one or more spines wholly on the caudal peduncle.…

    Humans actively share resources with one another to a much greater degree than do other great apes, and much human sharing is governed by social norms of fairness and equity1–3. When in receipt of a windfall of resources, human children begin showing tendencies towards equitable distribution with others at five to seven years of age4–7. Arguably, however, the primordial situation for human sharing of resources is that which follows cooperative activities such as collaborative foraging, when several individuals must share the spoils of their joint efforts8–10. Here we show that children of around three years of age share with others much more equitably in collaborative activities than they do in either windfall or parallel-work situations. By contrast, one of humans’ two nearest primate relatives, chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes), ‘share’ (make food available to another individual) just as often whether they have collaborated with them or not. This species difference raises the possibility that humans’ tendency to distribute resources equitably may have its evolutionary roots in the sharing of spoils after collaborative efforts. Among great apes, only humans are true collaborative foragers8,9,11. Other apes forage in small parties, but they do not actively work together jointly to produce food—the only exception being chimpanzee grouphunting of monkeys12,13. In contrast, humans in all societies produce significant portions of their food through collaborative efforts, even bringing the results of their labour back to some central location to share with other group members14,15. After group-hunting, chimpanzees mostly share only under pressure of harassment by others16 or else reciprocally with coalition partners17.
